Job Summary: The Application Engineer is a key technical resource within the Product Management team, supporting the field sales force by providing expert product knowledge, technical solutions, and customer support. This role plays a critical part in driving business growth by identifying opportunities, addressing technical challenges, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the sales process. The Application Engineer collaborates closely with Field Sales Engineers, Sales Managers, and Product Specialists to develop value propositions for customers, assist with distributor and OEM strategies, and contribute to business expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise & Product Knowledge
• Maintains an expert-level understanding of Dodge products, supporting product launches and ensuring the sales team has the technical knowledge needed to drive customer engagement.
• This includes making engineering calculations to support product selection and providing technical recommendations.
Sales & Customer Support
• Working closely with Account Managers, the Application Engineer participates in customer visits to present value propositions, resolve technical issues, and facilitate profitable business growth.
• This role also contributes to bid generation and coordinates efforts for large project proposals.
Training & Market Intelligence
• Responsible for conducting technical product training sessions for end customers, channel partners, and internal teams, the Application Engineer ensures stakeholders understand product applications and benefits.
• They also analyze market requirements, identify product portfolio gaps, and communicate competitive insights effectively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• The Application Engineer works with internal teams—including Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Logistics—to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction before and after sales.
• Additionally, they provide input on product enhancements and process improvements.
Customer Relationship Management
• Building and maintaining strong professional relationships with the Field Sales Team, distributors, and OEMs, the Application Engineer acts as a trusted advisor, aligning customer needs with Dodge's product offerings and market strategies.
Required Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience/knowledge of Dodge/RBC Products.
• Proven experience in customer service, sales support, or a related role.
• Bilingual in French & English is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in using SAP, quoting tools, and other relevant software applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in data entry and documentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
• Extended periods of sitting at a workstation.
• Speaking in person and over the telephone or Teams online and the ability to hear, comprehend, and document detailed information from others.
• Ability to type, reach, and grasp.
• Intermittent standing and walking within the office environment.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing for extended periods over the phone and in person.
• Occasional lifting or carrying objects weighing less than 10 lbs.
• Willingness to travel as needed to support sales teams and customer engagements.
