QA / SDET Intern — Xerodefect
About Xerodefect
Xerodefect is a consulting-style business providing quality engineering services. We help companies build reliable systems, scale faster, and avoid costly software failures.
We’re a lean, high-velocity team where ownership, curiosity, and execution matter more than titles. If you enjoy breaking products, improving quality, and learning how real-world systems work at scale, you’ll fit right in.
⸻
About the Role
We’re looking for a QA / SDET Intern to help test products, identify bugs, improve product reliability, and support automation efforts across client and internal projects.
You’ll work directly with the founder on real-world applications used by actual users — gaining hands-on exposure to manual testing, automation, debugging, and modern QA workflows.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- enjoys finding edge cases and breaking products
- is curious about how systems work underneath
- likes structured thinking and problem solving
- wants fast learning and real ownership instead of repetitive intern work
⸻
Responsibilities
- Perform manual testing across web and mobile applications.
- Identify, document, and track bugs clearly and reproducibly.
- Create and maintain test cases, checklists, and QA documentation.
- Assist with automation testing using tools/frameworks where applicable.
- Validate UI/UX flows, edge cases, and regression scenarios.
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce and verify issues.
- Participate in exploratory testing and product “break testing.”
- Help improve QA processes, workflows, and testing efficiency over time.
⸻
Requirements
- Basic understanding of software testing concepts and QA processes.
- Familiarity with web applications and browser debugging tools.
- Interest in automation, scripting, or programming (JavaScript/Python preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Ability to think beyond happy-path testing and explore edge cases independently.
⸻
Nice to Have
- Exposure to tools like Postman, Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Appium.
- Basic API testing knowledge.
- Understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, or Git workflows.
- Prior personal, freelance, or academic projects related to testing.
- Experience writing bug reports, test plans, or automation scripts.
⸻
Internship Details
- Location: Bangalore, Koramangala
- Type: Onsite, contract-based internship
- Duration: 1–3 months (extendable based on performance)
- Compensation: Competitive
- Work model: Full-time onsite
⸻
Application Process
To help us shortlist thoughtfully, please include the following in your application:
- Resume + LinkedIn/GitHub/profile links
- Short answers to:
- What’s the most interesting bug you’ve ever found?
- How would you test a food delivery app?
- A short Loom/video/audio note (2–5 mins is enough) explaining:
- something you tested, built, automated, or debugged
- OR a product you think has good/bad quality and why
We care more about:
- curiosity
- ownership
- communication
- problem-solving ability
- quality of thinking
…than polished resumes or certifications.
Low-effort applications are unlikely to move forward.
⸻
