About the job
About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Project / Program Manager to lead the delivery of a Microsoft Fabric-based data warehouse implementation. This is not a purely administrative PM role — you will be expected to deeply understand the technical landscape, provide advisory guidance to both the client and the engineering team, and keep a complex, multi-workstream program running with precision.
You will report into the Data & AI business unit at Provectus and serve as the connective tissue between client stakeholders, data engineers, and cross-functional delivery partners. You own the rhythm of delivery: sprint ceremonies, backlog health, risk visibility, and stakeholder communication. You do not need to write production code, but you must be fluent enough to push back on estimates, flag architectural concerns, and ask the right questions.
This is a remote, client-facing delivery role. Proximity to New York City is preferred but not required.
What You Will Own
Program & Delivery Management
• Own end-to-end program delivery for a Microsoft Fabric data warehouse implementation, from requirements through go-live and hypercare
• Drive agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions
• Maintain a healthy, well-prioritized backlog with clear acceptance criteria, story points, and owner assignments at all times
• Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and blockers; escalate early and manage mitigation tracks
• Produce and maintain program artifacts including project plans, RAID logs, status reports, and decision registers
• Manage multiple concurrent workstreams across data engineering, integration, and business validation tracks
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
• Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day client communication and program governance
• Facilitate structured working sessions to gather and validate requirements, align on priorities, and review deliverables
• Translate business requirements into well-defined technical epics and user stories the engineering team can act on
• Prepare and present executive-level status updates, steering committee materials, and go/no-go readiness assessments
• Build trusted advisor relationships with client stakeholders at the working and leadership level
Technical Advisory & Architecture Alignment
• Maintain a strong working understanding of the medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold) and guide engineering decisions in alignment with that framework
• Provide credible technical input during design reviews, sprint demos, and trade-off discussions — enough to challenge assumptions and add signal, not noise
• Partner with engineering leads to review pipeline designs, transformation logic, and integration patterns for alignment with client data strategy
• Support data governance conversations including metadata management, lineage, access control, and observability within the Fabric environment
Team Coordination & Operations
• Manage velocity tracking, capacity planning, and sprint forecasting for a cross-functional delivery team
• Coordinate with data engineers, analysts, and integration specialists to sequence work and remove friction
• Define and enforce documentation standards for runbooks, pipeline specs, and operational handoff materials
• Conduct structured retrospectives that yield actionable process improvements, not just conversation
About the Team You Will Manage
Your delivery team designs and builds automation workflows, data pipelines, and system integrations across the Microsoft and Azure ecosystem. They work directly with clients from requirements gathering through implementation, documentation, and handoff — owning the full lifecycle of their deliverables. The team operates across platforms including Microsoft Fabric and Azure SQL Warehouse, and routinely navigates AI governance, data transformation, and financial reporting use cases. You will set the delivery cadence, clear the path, and make sure their work ships.
You Might Be a Good Fit If You Have
• 5+ years of experience managing technical data programs, ideally in a consulting or client-facing delivery setting
• Hands-on experience delivering projects on Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or comparable modern data platforms
• Deep working knowledge of medallion architecture and how Bronze / Silver / Gold layers map to business and operational requirements
• Strong agile delivery skills — you have run sprint ceremonies, maintained healthy backlogs, and shipped iteratively under real client pressure
• The ability to read a technical design, ask substantive questions, and guide the engineering team without being the one writing the code
• Strong documentation habits: you produce project plans, status reports, and handoff materials that people actually use
• A clear communication style: you can write a crisp executive summary and run a focused working session equally well
• Experience managing multi-workstream programs with cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-expectation environments
• Familiarity with Azure data services including Databricks, Azure SQL Warehouse, and Power Automate is a strong plus
• Experience working with private equity firms or portfolio companies is a plus
Preferred Certifications
• PMP or PMI-ACP (strongly preferred)
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or SAFe Agilist
