About the job
Overview
American Drone Company is architecting the first persistent, regionalized remote sensing network. Our Regional Hubs house a fleet of high-efficiency UAVs that provide a 24/7 sensing radius for wildfire prevention, disaster relief, and industrial mineral exploration. We are looking for a foundational engineer to build the "eyes" and "intelligence" of our network—transforming raw aerial data into real-time geospatial insights.
The Role
As the Senior Computer Vision & Perception Engineer, you own the data value chain. You aren't just training models in a vacuum; you are architecting the edge-AI and cloud-processing pipelines that allow our fleet to "understand" the world. You will work directly with the Founder to integrate advanced sensors (LiDAR, Hyperspectral, Thermal) and develop the algorithms that identify thermal anomalies, map minerals, and track environmental changes across vast regional areas.
Key Responsibilities
Perception Stack Architecture: Lead the development of real-time object detection, semantic segmentation, and change detection algorithms optimized for aerial platforms.
Multi-Modal Sensor Fusion: Integrate and process data from diverse payloads, including LiDAR point clouds, hyperspectral imagery, and thermal sensors to create high-fidelity 3D maps and "digital twins."
Edge-AI Deployment: Optimize computer vision models for deployment on resource-constrained hardware (e.g., Nvidia Jetson, Ambarella) to enable on-board, real-time decision making.
Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT): Develop automated pipelines for orthomosaic generation and automated target recognition (ATR) to service clients in mining, forestry, and emergency response.
Algorithm Validation: Build robust datasets and testing frameworks to ensure model accuracy across diverse biomes, lighting conditions, and weather states.
Requirements
Experience: 5+ years in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or Remote Sensing, specifically with aerial or autonomous vehicle applications.
Technical Stack: Expert-level proficiency in PyTorch or TensorFlow, OpenCV, and Python/C++.
Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of 3D computer vision, point cloud processing (PCL), and spectral analysis.
Mindset: You thrive in the "zero-to-one" phase and enjoy the challenge of making "heavy" AI run on "light" hardware.
Strategic Alignment: Please note: Formal employment and salary commencement are contingent upon the successful closing of our Seed funding round. Early engagement will involve equity-only advisory or "Letter of Intent" status to solidify the founding team for the raise.
Bonus: Direct experience with DoD, military, or Intelligence Community (IC) projects involving ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) or GEOINT.
