Software Engineer

The opportunity

You’ll own real features end-to-end - from design through to production. You’ll work on a product that handles billions of pounds of real loan data, with direct exposure to C-suite of lenders and investors across the UK.

The role

You’ll join our core product engineering team, working across both frontend and backend to deliver features that matter to our customers. You’ll be expected to own your work: understanding the problem, contributing to the solution design, building it, and shipping it. You’ll do this working hand-in-hand with our customers and our product/sales teams.

What you’ll work on

• Building and maintaining our core modules; origination, loan management and investor management, with direct influence on our product roadmap
• Develop integrations with third parties (i.e. accounting systems, credit underwriting and financial data providers)
• Contributing to our investor and capital management tooling, including the capital allocation engine and funder portfolio intelligence
• Building kennek toward AI-native features and having direct influence on our AI roadmap
• Continually optimise our customer onboarding speed and efficiency
• Writing tests as a first-class concern - we maintain 3,500+ automated tests and expect every engineer to contribute

What we’re looking for

Must have

• High ownership and accountability
• At least 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong backend engineering experience. We use Kotlin, but we’re open to candidates from any backend background who are excited to learn and work in Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, and data modelling (we use PostgreSQL)
• Experience working with React, or a comparable modern frontend framework, alongside strong TypeScript skills.
• Experience with continuous delivery practices - feature flags, staged rollouts, backward-compatible migrations, automated pipelines
• Comfortable working in a cloud environment - GCP, AWS, or Azure

Nice to have

• Experience in FinTech, lending, or financial services
• Desire to work directly with customers and directly influence product roadmap
• Exposure to event-driven architecture or data pipeline work
