Build the Automation Backbone for AI Systems

At Staple AI, we are building infrastructure for AI-powered document intelligence used by enterprises across finance, tax, and compliance.

Our platform processes millions of documents through complex AI pipelines and enterprise workflows. As our system scales, automation, reliability, and testing architecture become critical.

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to architect and lead our automation strategy.

This is a foundational role. You will design the testing frameworks, automation architecture, and CI quality gates that ensure our system remains stable as it grows.

What You’ll Work On

You’ll help ensure reliability across complex distributed systems, including:

• AI document processing pipelines
  
• API-driven microservices
  
• Enterprise workflow automation
  
• Data extraction and validation systems
  
• Large-scale document ingestion infrastructure
  

Your work will directly impact product stability, release confidence, and engineering velocity.

What You’ll Do

🧱 Architect and implement scalable automation frameworks for UI and APIs

🧪 Build robust UI automation using Playwright

🔗 Design and maintain API automation suites

⚙️ Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)

🚦 Establish and maintain CI quality gates for releases

🛠 Improve test reliability and eliminate flaky tests

📊 Implement risk-based and dynamic testing strategies

⚡ Lead performance testing initiatives using tools like k6 or JMeter

🤝 Work closely with frontend, backend, and platform engineers

🏗 Continuously improve testing architecture as the product evolves

Technical Environment

Frontend: JavaScript / TypeScript

Backend: Go, Python

APIs: GraphQL

CI/CD: GitHub Actions (preferred), Jenkins

What We’re Looking For

✔ 5+ years experience in QA / Test Automation

✔ Strong hands-on expertise with Playwright

✔ Experience building automation frameworks from scratch

✔ Experience with API automation

✔ Experience integrating test suites with CI/CD pipelines

✔ Experience in performance testing (k6, JMeter, or equivalent)

✔ Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills

✔ Clear written and verbal communication

Nice to Have

➕ Experience working in product-based environments

➕ Exposure to security testing fundamentals

➕ Experience working in startup or high-growth engineering teams
