Smiley Technologies supports secure, business-critical banking platforms used by banks and credit unions across the United States. In this fast paced environment, Network Engineering is a critical part of our operation - one wrong configuration can impact 100,000+ end users.

We’re currently hiring a Network Engineer to support and work alongside our Senior Network Engineer following an internal promotion. This role is for someone with real, hands-on enterprise networking experience, particularly with Cisco switching and enterprise firewalls in highly available production environments.

This is not a cyber-only role or a small-network environment. We’re looking for someone who has been deep in the weeds troubleshooting complex enterprise networks and is comfortable owning changes that truly matter.

The Role

This Is a Split Between

• Internal enterprise infrastructure, and
• External customer environments, as part of our Managed Services offering

You’ll work with both internal teams and customers, supporting production systems, implementing approved designs, and troubleshooting complex network issues.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support and operate enterprise on-prem and hybrid cloud networks
• Configure and maintain Cisco switching, routing, and enterprise firewalls
• Work with high-availability firewall architectures (active/standby, clustering)
• Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, EtherChannels, routing, VPNs, and failover scenarios
• Support site-to-site and remote-access VPNs
• Monitor performance, availability, and capacity across production systems
• Perform network upgrades, patches, and security configuration changes
• Troubleshoot complex issues where accuracy and attention to detail are critical
• Support both internal teams and external customers, communicating clearly and professionally
• Assist with new site deployments and vendor coordination
• Maintain network diagrams, documentation, and inventories
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical systems

What We’re Looking For

This role requires true enterprise networking experience.

Required Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with enterprise Cisco switching
• Enterprise firewall experience is mandatory
• Cisco (ASA / FTD) or Palo Alto
• HA active/standby or clustered environments
• Experience troubleshooting complex production networks
• Comfort implementing approved designs independently
• Experience working directly with customers and client-owned equipment
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as PCI (awareness is sufficient)
• Cloud Experience (Experience with Azure networking is a plus/AWS networking experience is also acceptable if Azure exposure is limited)

Nice To Have (Not Required)

• MSP background (we can train this internally)
• Financial services or banking exposure
