Azure Data Engineer - Synapse & Big Data Specialist

Location: Porto, Portugal (Hybrid - 2 days/week in office)

Work Model
🏢 Hybrid: 2 days per week in our Porto office + 3 days remote
What You'll Do

Design and develop ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics
Build and maintain SQL scripts (stored procedures) and PySpark notebooks
Optimize performance of SQL Dedicated Pools and Azure Data Lake Gen2
Model data across different storage systems and architectures
Manage version control using GitHub branching strategies
Handle real-time data processing workflows
Write comprehensive technical documentation
Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver data solutions that drive business value
Ensure data security and regulatory compliance
Implement unit testing for data pipelines and transformations

What We Need From You
Must-have:

✅ Fluent English (written and spoken)
✅ Proven experience with Azure Synapse Analytics
✅ Strong SQL skills (stored procedures, optimization)
✅ Hands-on experience with PySpark
✅ Experience with Azure Data Lake Gen2
✅ GitHub version control proficiency
✅ Data modeling expertise
✅ Experience with real-time data processing
✅ Ability to work on-site in Porto 2 days/week

Nice to have:

Azure certifications
Experience with data governance frameworks
CI/CD pipeline implementation experience
