Frontend Engineering Intern — React / Next.js (2027-2028)

Important: This is a hands-on, high-ownership internship with a ₹5,000/month stipend for students who want to work on real production software and grow through direct feedback, responsibility and practical engineering experience.

Expected commitment: Approximately 20–30 hours per week for a minimum of 4 months.

Auto Wisdom is building automotive intelligence and digital products that help people make better decisions around cars, ownership and automotive services.

We are currently founder-led, which means you will work directly with the founder and get exposure to engineering, product decisions and the realities of building a startup from the ground up.

You will work on real product flows used by real users — not isolated practice projects.

What You'll Do

• Build and ship production features using React, Next.js and TypeScript
• Own complete user flows rather than only isolated UI components
• Understand API contracts, backend dependencies and application state
• Handle loading, error, empty, authenticated and edge-case states thoughtfully
• Build responsive, accessible and performant interfaces
• Integrate REST APIs and debug frontend-backend issues
• Reuse existing architecture and components before introducing new patterns
• Test your changes for regressions before requesting review
• Review your own code and diff before handing work over
• Document important technical decisions where required

How We Work

We care about how you approach a problem, not only whether the final screen works.

You will be expected to:

• Understand the requirement and existing product flow before starting implementation
• Break non-trivial work into a clear implementation plan before coding
• Investigate problems independently, but ask focused questions when you remain blocked
• Avoid staying silently confused for long periods
• Estimate tasks realistically and improve your estimates over time
• Respect agreed deadlines and communicate blockers or delays before the deadline
• Provide a clear revised ETA if a committed timeline needs to change
• Test your own work thoroughly before requesting review
• Treat code review as part of engineering, not as the first testing stage
• Take tasks through implementation, review, QA and final closure

AI-Assisted Development

We actively use modern AI development tools.

AI is welcome as an accelerator, not as a substitute for engineering understanding.

You must be able to:

• Explain the code and technical decisions you submit
• Independently validate AI-generated suggestions
• Identify when an AI-generated solution does not fit the existing architecture
• Test and take responsibility for all AI-assisted code you submit

You should never submit code you cannot independently explain.

What We Expect

• Strong fundamentals in JavaScript, TypeScript, React and Next.js
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS and responsive design
• Understanding of REST APIs and frontend-backend integration
• Ability to read and understand an existing codebase before modifying it
• Structured problem-solving rather than trial-and-error implementation
• Ability to explain your technical approach and decisions
• Good debugging, testing and self-review habits
• Willingness to ask focused questions when genuinely blocked
• Realistic task estimation and respect for agreed deadlines
• Proactive communication when blockers or timelines change
• Openness to direct code-review feedback and the ability to apply it consistently

Bonus Points

• Experience with SSR/SSG and modern React patterns
• Experience with Redux, Zustand or another state-management library
• Experience with automated frontend testing
• Deployed projects or previous internships
• Open-source contributions
• Experience with Vercel or similar cloud platforms
• Interest in cars, automotive technology or mobility

Eligibility

• Students pursuing B.Tech, B.E. or a related technical degree
• Preferably graduating in 2027 or 2028
• Minimum 4-month availability
• Able to commit approximately 20–30 hours per week
• Candidates from all colleges are welcome — practical engineering ability matters more than college brand
