This is a hands-on, high-ownership engineering internship for students who already have practical experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript and modern frontend development.

We are looking for candidates who can join an existing production codebase, understand its architecture, independently investigate problems, and start contributing to real engineering tasks.

Prior working knowledge of Next.js is mandatory. This is not a position for learning React or Next.js from scratch.

You will receive guidance on our product, codebase, engineering standards and workflows, but you are expected to already possess the technical fundamentals required to work effectively.

The internship offers a ₹5,000/month stipend, direct collaboration with the founder, meaningful feature ownership and experience building software used by real customers.

We are a founder-led engineering team, which means you will work directly with the founder and collaborate with developers across frontend, backend and infrastructure.

Our Technology Stack

Frontend: React 19, Next.js 16, TypeScript, JavaScript, Tailwind CSS, HTML5 and CSS3.

State and Integration: Redux Toolkit, REST APIs, authentication flows, asynchronous data fetching and application-state management.

Engineering Tools: Git, GitHub, browser developer tools, ESLint, Playwright and Vercel.

Experience with every tool is not mandatory, but you must have strong practical knowledge of our core frontend technologies.

What You'll Do

Frontend Development

• Build, improve and maintain production features using Next.js, React and TypeScript.
• Work with the Next.js App Router, Server Components, Client Components and routing.
• Implement responsive, accessible and performant user interfaces.
• Integrate frontend features with existing REST APIs.
• Implement and maintain authentication, authorization-aware UI flows and protected application routes.
• Manage local, shared and asynchronous application state.
• Handle loading, error, empty, success and edge-case states.
• Debug hydration, rendering, state synchronization and API integration issues.

Engineering Ownership

• Understand existing code and architecture before modifying functionality.
• Trace existing user flows, dependencies and component relationships.
• Reuse established components, utilities and patterns wherever appropriate.
• Identify potential regressions before implementing changes.
• Write maintainable, type-safe and readable code.
• Investigate issues systematically rather than relying on repeated trial-and-error changes.
• Test functionality across relevant devices, browsers and application states.
• Review your own Git diff before submitting changes.
• Participate in pull-request reviews and resolve feedback.
• Take assigned tasks through implementation, review, QA and final closure.

Mandatory Technical Requirements

1. React, Next.js and TypeScript

You must already understand:

• React functional components, hooks, props, state and component composition.
• Next.js App Router, layouts, routing and navigation.
• Server Components versus Client Components.
• Server-side rendering, static rendering and client-side rendering.
• Data fetching, caching and asynchronous rendering behaviour.
• JavaScript ES6+ and practical TypeScript usage.
• Component lifecycle, effects, dependencies and common React performance issues.
• Forms, validation and frontend error handling.

2. Frontend Architecture and API Integration

You should be comfortable with:

• Integrating REST APIs into React/Next.js applications.
• Understanding HTTP methods, status codes, headers and JSON contracts.
• Authentication and protected application flows.
• State management concepts, including Redux or comparable solutions.
• Handling asynchronous operations and request failures.
• Responsive layouts, semantic HTML, CSS and Tailwind CSS.
• Basic accessibility and performance considerations.
• Reading and extending an existing application architecture.

3. Software Engineering Fundamentals

You must be able to:

• Use Git confidently, including branches, commits, merges and pull requests.
• Debug using browser developer tools, logs and systematic investigation.
• Explain technical decisions and identify implementation trade-offs.
• Evaluate edge cases and potential regressions.
• Perform meaningful self-testing before requesting review.
• Understand code written by other engineers and modify it safely.
• Communicate technical blockers with enough context for others to help.

Candidates should be capable of demonstrating these skills through functional projects, previous engineering work or technical assessment.

You are not expected to know Auto Wisdom's codebase before joining. However, you must have sufficient technical experience to become productive after a focused introduction to our architecture and workflows.

AI-Assisted Development

We actively use modern AI-assisted development tools.

AI tools are welcome as engineering accelerators, but they are not substitutes for technical understanding.

You must be able to:

• Explain the code you submit.
• Understand and validate AI-generated implementations.
• Recognize solutions that conflict with existing architecture.
• Debug code independently when AI-generated suggestions fail.
• Verify assumptions against actual code and technical documentation.
• Test all AI-assisted changes before submitting them.
• Take responsibility for the correctness, security and maintainability of your work.

Do not submit code you cannot independently explain, debug or validate.

Bonus Points

• Experience with Redux Toolkit and complex application-state management.
• Experience with SSR, SSG, caching and performance optimization.
• Automated frontend testing using Playwright or similar tools.
• Familiarity with frontend authentication and OAuth flows.
• Experience with Vercel, Docker or CI/CD workflows.
• Experience debugging production applications.
• Open-source contributions or previous internships.
• Deployed Next.js projects used by actual users.
• Understanding of backend APIs and database fundamentals.
• Interest in automotive technology or mobility.

Eligibility

• Students pursuing B.Tech, B.E. or a related technical degree.
• Preferably graduating in 2027 or 2028.
• At least four months of availability.
• Ability to commit approximately 20–30 hours per week.
• Existing hands-on experience with React, Next.js and TypeScript.
• Ability to work independently on appropriately scoped engineering tasks.
• Comfortable collaborating remotely and communicating progress consistently.

Candidates from all colleges are welcome. Practical engineering ability matters more than college brand.
