Our best engineers are passionate about utilizing the latest technology & tools to deliver the highest quality code possible. As AI-assisted code and agented AI tools become standard, we're embracing the opportunities they create for our teams to focus on complex builds and greenfield projects.

Our ML & Data Science teams are responsible for building, tuning, and maintaining the LLMs that power our AI & ML advertising solutions. They deliver both text and image generation capabilities, as well as provide a deep set of data used for experimentation.

We've already started using several generative AI tools - Claude, Cursor, Gemini, ChatGPT - to shorten development cycles, and many of our non-technical teams are now contributing to engineering efforts using these tools as well.

What Skills Are Needed to be Successful at System1?

As we move to using AI-assisted and AI-agented development methodologies, new engineers joining our team must be passionate about finding new ways to apply these tools and technologies.

Familiarity with the technologies in our tech stacks is important - but a strong grasp of computer science, machine learning, and data science fundamentals is necessary to understand how to solve complex engineering problems. Understanding edge cases, limitations, implications, and cost are all essential parts of delivering quality products. As our senior engineers are responsible for mentoring others on the team, it's even more critical for them to have a well-rounded understanding of their technical environment.

We love to learn! Outside of traditional engineering experience, curiosity and a passion for continuously developing both personal and professional skills are key characteristics we look for in all candidates.

Our compensation packages include base salary + bonus + equity. The base salary range for this job family in the U.S. is $120,600 - $242,700

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related competency attainment, experience, and relevant education or training.
