About the role...

We are seeking a Senior Equity Administrator to lead and optimize equity plan processes for our global workforce. You will manage equity systems, grant distributions, transactions, reporting, and compliance while collaborating with People, Finance, Accounting, and Legal teams to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Your expertise will shape the evolution of our equity programs and educate employees on our philosophy and offerings.

At Duolingo, we are a quirky and kind, but results-driven bunch! We value critical thinkers who thrive in fast-paced environments and embody collaboration, integrity, and results-driven excellence.

You will...

  • Establish and oversee effective and efficient processes for equity plan administration, including quarterly and annual equity grant cycles, approvals, distributions, terminations, transactions, reconciliations, equity system and vendor management, and comprehensive reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to manage equity budgeting and forecasting, and support monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation processes for equity transactions.
  • Assess and recommend updates to Duolingo's equity compensation design, leading the execution of proposed changes and overseeing all associated change management initiatives.
  • Partner with Accounting and Legal teams to ensure compliance with all necessary reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and rollout of future equity programs, aligning them with organizational goals and employee needs.
  • Design and deliver branded equity education initiatives for current and prospective employees, ensuring clear communication and understanding of the program.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all equity-related matters, providing support to Duolingo employees and maintaining the relationship with the equity system vendor.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to implement best practices in equity administration, ensuring that programs scale effectively and adapt to Duolingo’s growth.

You have...

  • Willingness to work in or relocate to New York, NY.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of equity administration experience in a global public company.
  • Expertise in equity platforms (e.g., Shareworks, E*Trade), HR systems (Workday), and advanced Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and project management ability to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
  • Excellent communication skills to educate and engage employees while maintaining confidentiality and integrity in managing sensitive data.
  • Experience in high-growth, fast-paced environments, particularly in technology or engineering sectors

Exceptional candidates will have...

  • Certified Equity Professional (CEP) certification
  • Experience implementing relevant systems and processes to serve a fast-growing start-up environment
  • Experience bringing organization to teams and streamlining processes within organizations
