Engineering Manager - Backend

Role Overview: The Engineering Manager (EM) will play a key leadership role at Skor, combining strong management experience with technical expertise. You will have ownership of your vertical, lead a growing engineering team, and make critical decisions to drive the tech direction of the company. Your role will focus on scalability, optimizing app performance, and ensuring the engineering team delivers high-quality solutions quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor the engineering team, focusing on tech architecture, code reviews, and team growth.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, business) to define roadmaps and prioritize solutions.
• Drive engineering excellence through high-quality designs, algorithms, and implementations.
• Influence and shape the company’s tech vision and architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Manage Agile development processes and deliver projects with a focus on speed and quality.
• Optimize systems, backend infrastructure, and application performance (e.g., latency, memory, cost optimization).
• Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the team.

You’ll Be a Good Fit If:

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years in a leadership role managing engineering teams.
• Strong experience in scalable product development, including large data handling or transaction processing.
• Expertise in modern tech stacks, cloud services, microservices, and object-oriented design.
• Proven ability to think critically and design systems for scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Excellent collaborator and communicator, with a focus on mentoring, team-building, and driving technical excellence.
• Solid coding skills and experience leading large-scale refactoring efforts to improve code quality.

Ideal Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science from top-tier institutes (IITs, NITs or BITs or any equivalent top tier institution).
• Experience in fast-paced, high-growth product companies or start-ups.
• Passionate about making an impact and solving complex problems with empathy for end users.
