Lead Data Scientist / Data Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join our team and spearhead the technological advancement which sits at the intersection of technology and engineering. As a visionary leader and a data expert you’ll play a pivotal role in developing the MVP and will be responsible for collecting, cleaning, and preparing data, ensuring it is ready for advanced machine learning and AI applications. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on work, requiring proficiency in data engineering tools, ETL processes, and AWS cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
-Design, implement, and manage end-to-end ETL pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
-Lead efforts to collect, preprocess, and clean data for ML and AI models, ensuring data quality and consistency.
-Conduct advanced feature engineering to optimize machine learning model performance.
-Collaborate with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
-Work with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) to process and analyze large-scale datasets efficiently.
-Develop, test, and maintain APIs to integrate data pipelines with machine learning models and other applications.
-Leverage AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, SageMaker) to build scalable cloud-based solutions.
-Mentor junior data scientists and data engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Qualifications
-Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in data science and data engineering roles.
Data Engineering Expertise:
-Strong proficiency in ETL processes and tools like Apache Airflow or AWS Glue.
-Extensive experience with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Databricks).
Data Preprocessing & Feature Engineering:
-Proven ability to preprocess raw data, handle missing values, and create meaningful features.
-Expertise in handling structured and unstructured data.
Machine Learning & AI:
-Solid understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
-Familiarity with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
Cloud & APIs:
-Proficiency in AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, Lambda, Redshift, SageMaker).
-Strong knowledge of API development and integration.
Programming Skills:
-Advanced skills in Python, SQL, and a big data programming language (e.g., Scala or Java).
-Familiarity with version control tools like Git.
Leadership:
-Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor team members effectively.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with streaming data pipelines using tools like Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
• Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
• Familiarity with AutoML tools and hyperparameter optimization techniques.
• Certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics or Machine Learning).
