We've been working on something with potential for significant social impact. 2024 is our launch. Our MVP is almost ready to pilot. We're looking to hire a savvy back end technical professional to join our development team.

Pinion is a new platform and community where you can easily find and vote on legislation/topics you care about at local, state national and global levels. Easily Share your "Pinion" to social media if you like or remain private, view results, and track your representatives to see how well they are representing your interests - plus compare candidates running to replace them in the next election so you can see "who is voting with me".

About the position - Pinion is moving from a web MVP to a user oriented, interactive environment that utilizes our innovative user engagement mechanism. We are seeking an experienced back end engineer to build out solutions that users will love and customers will value.

An ideal candidate for this position will be comfortable working in a remote startup environment, where you’re dealing with a lot of moving parts but still have an eye for detail. A self-motivated team player who works well with other team members and can adapt to fast-changing environments will thrive. You should reliably have available bandwidth to be able to communicate with teammates and work on development tasks.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop, deploy, and test back end database technology, API code and overall functionality.
• Be familiar with analytical database functions and work to optimize interactions with SQL Server. Have experience with evaluating different frameworks we may move to in the future (MongoDB, mySQL, noSQL, Etc).
• Work with the analytics and front-end team as necessary to enable new functionality.
• Consistently take on and complete work assignments in reasonable time frames.
• Participate in governance and review (Workflow staging, QA/QC, documentation, etc)

Qualifications

• Significant experience working with relational / SQL databases.
• Must have a good experience level with a mix of our core environment: Linux, JS/REACT, Azure DevOps, SQL Server, Entity Framework. Node.js.
  
• Good to have: , Python, Django, Apache, Microsoft development stack/tools
• Experience with Client-side and Server-side Development
• Good team player and willingness to engage with teammates, get to know them and create a collaborative working environment.
• Formal education or equivalent work experience as a back-end services engineer.
• Available bandwidth - We understand life that happens, jobs change, families require time and we expect to accommodate this but you should expect to consistently contribute at least 10 hours per week, with more welcome.

Compensation - Please Note: We are a true early stage start up (pre-funding/pre-revenue) and all working for future equity only (no salaries yet) using the Slicing Pie methodology (www.slicingpie.com) to fairly allocate equity in the company. This role is intended to grow into a full-time salary+bonus+equity position in the future as we gain funding and revenues. Also, Angel List requires that this post be classified as a "Cofounder" in order to post on the site. While you will be part of our founding team, this is NOT a legal employment offer for a "cofounder role" - all of our team members are on contractor work agreements. Finally - this is a flexible fully remote position. An ideal candidate should be self-sufficient, with the bandwidth to reliably contribute, interested in our technology and mission, and comfortable with our early stage, “boot strapping” startup status.
