The Regional Technical Officer (RTO) will oversee the technical and operational management of a large portfolio of telecom infrastructure sites, ensuring each site’s equipment, safety, and overall integrity are maintained according to company standards. This role is critical for ensuring continuous network availability and operational excellence across all managed sites. The RTO will be responsible for managing a team of technicians to ensure efficient servicing and maintenance of key site equipment (generators, rectifiers, batteries, and air conditioners), strict adherence to safety and cleanliness standards, and ensuring that all sites are monitored and controlled via the Remote Monitoring System (RMS) in Automatic mode. The RTO will also coordinate diesel delivery logistics, ensuring the right quality and quantity is delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Operations & Maintenance: o Oversee the servicing & maintenance of all telecom sites in the designated region. o Ensure all equipment (generators, rectifiers, batteries, air conditioners) is functioning as per the company's technical standards and operational guidelines. o Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are strictly adhered to and documented for each site. o Confirm that all sites are in RMS Automatic mode for proactive monitoring and control.
- Diesel Logistics & Quality Control: o Coordinate with suppliers and technicians to ensure timely delivery of diesel to each site. o Verify the correct diesel quantity and quality upon delivery to ensure operational integrity. o Monitor fuel usage through RMS and optimize diesel consumption to reduce costs and wastage.
- Safety & Compliance: o Ensure sites are maintained in a safe, hazard-free condition; identify and mitigate any potential risks. o Conduct regular audits of sites to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational protocols. o Make certain that hazardous items are identified and removed to protect the site’s assets, personnel, and infrastructure.
- Site Cleanliness & Organization: o Ensure all sites are kept clean, orderly, and free from obstructions that may impact site safety or operations. o Train and supervise technicians on maintaining site cleanliness standards as per company guidelines.
- Team Leadership & Development: o Manage and mentor a team of technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance team performance. o Schedule technician rotations and assign tasks to ensure full site coverage and timely response to maintenance needs. o Conduct regular performance reviews and feedback sessions with team members to maintain high service quality.
- Monitoring & Reporting: o Use the RMS to actively monitor site conditions and respond promptly to any alerts or issues. o Generate periodic reports on site performance, maintenance activities, fuel consumption, and any incidents or repairs. o Provide regular updates to senior management on site status, team performance, and operational challenges. Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Telecommunications, or a related field. • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in telecom infrastructure operations, with hands-on experience in site maintenance, diesel logistics, or technician management preferred. • Skills: o Strong technical knowledge of telecom site equipment (generators, rectifiers, batteries, AC units). o Familiarity with RMS and remote monitoring systems. o Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. o Strong leadership skills and experience managing technical teams. o Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with site maintenance software is a plus. Competencies: • Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy in diesel logistics, maintenance standards, and safety compliance. • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify and address technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime. • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate across teams and report to management effectively. • Safety Awareness: Commitment to maintaining safe, compliant, and hazard-free site environments.
