At Topanga, our mission is to enable food-service operations to waste less and save more. Backed by leading VCs, we are an enterprise SaaS business and early-stage startup at the intersection of sustainability, AI, and automation for kitchens. Our products are used by the leading food service providers in the world (think Aramark, Sodexo, and Compass) to transform their kitchen operations so they reduce waste and improve workflows. We accomplish this through our award-winning ReusePass program and our latest product, StreamLine, a food-waste mitigation and workflow-automation tool.

We’re a remote-first team with an office in Los Angeles that strives to compensate above market for the given role and stage of the company. We have an unlimited PTO policy and a culture that promotes using at least three continuous weeks every year. (Yes, 12-days camping with no cell service is encouraged. Fresh air is good for us). We sign off at 2:30pm on Fridays, observe long weekends, and respect that some days you wake up and your head just isn’t in it.

The Role: Marketing Specialist
We’re seeking an innovative and results-driven Marketing Specialist to join our team as our second full-time marketing hire––with the goal to move from full-time contract to full-time hire. This fully-remote role offers a unique opportunity to build on and expand our current marketing efforts––driving sales growth, brand visibility, and internal processes. You’ll play a vital role in executing our marketing strategies, collaborating closely with various stakeholders, and helping us achieve our mission of helping food-service orgs reduce packaging and food waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Campaign Execution: Develop and implement targeted marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including email, social media, and paid advertising.
- Social Media Management: Oversee and grow our social media presence, engaging audiences across key platforms, including LinkedIn (B2B) and Instagram (B2B and B2C).
- Email Marketing: Craft messaging that resonates with our audience and drives conversion, and work closely with sales to build campaigns in Salesforce.
- Campaign Analysis: Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance, using data insights to inform and optimize future efforts.
- Cross-Team Project Management: Help the marketing and sales team stay on top of internal and external projects, supporting in administrative upkeep across core platforms such as Notion, Google Drive, and Salesforce.

- Great writer who can easily craft compelling and engaging copy.

Qualifications and Skills
- 1–2 years of marketing experience minimum.
- Social media management for both B2B + B2C and extensive knowledge of all platforms (primarily LinkedIn and Instagram).
- Strong email copy writing to create engaging, high-converting email content.
- Proficiency in email marketing platforms with an understanding of best practices for campaign timing, A/B testing, and deliverability.
- Experience with or eager to learn Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Certification or familiarity is a major plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field is a plus.
- Design experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, WIX and/or Canva is a plus.
