Senior Load Test Engineer

We are looking for an exceptional** Load & Chaos Testing Engineer** to join our growing Engine team. The Engine team develops and maintains most things related to Workato Recipe runtime. Everything related to recipe execution: DSL, pulling events, processing webhooks, executing jobs. There are various aspects to it: performance, scaling, storage, durability, atomicity, concurrency guarantees, data protection, and encryption.

Responsibilities

• Perform load & chaos testing of complex heterogeneous Ruby/GOlang/Rust applications, as well as small self-contained GOlang microservices.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
• Work closely with Infra and SRE teams to ensure high availability and scalability requirements are addressed.
• Help to validate and achieve 3x and 10x scalability milestones. Which is roughly 100k rps.
• Help to validate and achieve HA with 99.995% uptime guarantees on generic AWS infrastructure (~ 99% uptime)
• Evaluate and propose improvements to existing systems.
• Advise on all phases of the development lifecycle.
• Help maintain application quality, organization and automatization.
• We always explore new technologies and work with Rust and Wasm can be foreseen.

Requirements
Technical Skills:

• Strong experience with load, stress, and chaos testing tools like Gatling, Locust, Yandex Tank, JMeter, Chaos Monkey, etc.
• Excellent debugging, analytical, problem solving.
• Understanding of:
• building blocks of large web applications: databases, load balancers, application servers, message brokers, caching, monitoring, etc.
• Deploying in Kubernetes.
• Network protocols and stacks.
• DB technologies: both classic databases and modern no-SQL.
• Experience with testing and scaling distributed, highly available systems.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject, 7+ years of industry experience.

Optional:

• Background in Go, Ruby / Ruby on Rails and/or Rust.
• Background in network programming.
• Background in application, data security.
• Experience of working with third-party REST APIs at scale (request throttling, batch processing etc).

Other Requirements:

• Readiness to work remotely with teams distributed across the world and timezones.
