Founding Engineer (Full Stack)

Who We Are:
Cherub is changing the game in angel investing. We're on a mission to democratize who gets access to deals that are often locked behind old-school networks and based all on who you know -- not what value you could provide. Our platform helps top founders streamline their fundraising process (which usually takes 27 months on average and hundreds of cold pitches with a less than 10% close success rate) and gives strategic angels access to deals that actually move the needle on their portfolios.

Since launching a MVP in September 2023, we've helped startups secure over $2.5M in angel investments. We are lean, mission-driven, recently out of closed beta and ready to take our product to the next level.

We've raised over $1.4M from strategic angels including Alli Webb (Founder, Drybar, exited $200M), Arian Simone (GP / Founder, Fearless Fund), Morgan DeBaun (CEO, Blavity), and Meghan Asha (CEO, Foundermade).

Our founding team consists of a serial entrepreneur who has $25M+ in exits and a product leader who was the founding growth team member at a YC-backed real estate tech startup that got acquired by Opendoor ($OPEN), where she was Head of Buyer Product Management.

What you'll do:
As our Founding Engineer (Full-Stack), you’ll have the autonomy to evolve our product from the ground up. You’ll work closely with a super lean team that’s all about getting shit done—no bureaucracy, no politics, no preciousness. You'll own the whole tech stack, lead the product vision, and collaborate with marketing, ops, and product leads who care deeply about branding and user experience. You might be the right person if this both scares and excites you!

Together, we’re going to make fundraising easier, faster, smarter, and unlock billions in untapped capital by bringing could-be angel investors off the sidelines.

In this role, you'll:

• Continue to build and evolve our core product (currently built on Ruby on Rails with a homegrown custom app that hooks into Webflow), owning both the front and back end
• Work cross-functionally to translate big ideas into clean, functional tech that users love
• Ensure high-quality performance while keeping things moving fast
• Troubleshoot like a pro, making sure everything works seamlessly for our users
• Be diligent about squashing bugs and prioritizing our user experience—we’re here to make this process way better for both founders and investors
• Have the chance to bring on and work with additional tech resources as needed, but you’re the one in charge of keeping the ship steady

What we're looking for:

• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails—you know it inside and out
• A passion for consumer startups (tech and non-tech) and the angel investing space. Bonus if you’ve had a front-row seat to the grind of raising capital or have strong opinions on how it could be improved
• Strong communication and self-project management chops—you’ll be working directly with non-technical folks across product, marketing, and ops
• A get-shit-done attitude. We’re lean and mean, so you need to be comfortable managing priorities and taking ownership
• A love for great user experiences. We care about our brand, design, and making a lasting impression with our product
• Interest in leadership or management is a nice-to-have but not a must-have, as we'll continue to grow our team and want you as a core member
