About the team

One of our clients is Alpha School, a well-funded and ambitious organization setting out to change K-12 education. The results are groundbreaking: students crush their academic goals in just two hours a day, freeing up the other six to discover new interests, explore passions, and develop crucial life skills. Alpha students learn 2x faster than their peers and place in the top 1% of students nationwide.

Alpha's mission is to bring the 2 Hour Learning model to millions of students around the globe, and that starts with building great software. Eigen's edtech apps put LLMs at the heart of subjects like reading and writing, giving students instant, personalized feedback and allowing them to learn about things they love.

Alpha is growing rapidly, and so is our mandate. Eigen currently maintains 4 active products that are deployed to hundreds of students, with thousands more on the way. To accommodate this growth, we're spinning up Apex Learning, a dedicated team within Eigen that will design & ship world-class AI learning software.

What you'll do

Simple. To start, you'll write excellent code, effective prompts, and contribute to an engineering culture of excellence as we build the future of education. Over time, you'll have the chance to grow as an IC or manager as this team scales – in either case, you'll get a first hand experience building LLM-based software that impacts the physical world.

• Build with Typescript and the latest AI tooling to get more done, faster.

Minimum Requirements

• You've spent 4+ years on high-functioning engineering teams building user-facing software.

• You consider yourself a product-first engineer.

• You've experimented with GPT4o or Claude 3.5 APIs.

• You're proactive about improvement and looking to level up.

Preferred Requirements

• The products you've built have been in the education space or have LLMs at their core.

• You know how to write excellent prompts (and test them).

• You use Cursor on a daily basis to level up your engineering output.

Work at Eigen

Base salary ranges from $200,000 to $350,000 per year, and we're looking for full-time, remote teammates to fill this role. In addition, this role is eligible for a cash bonus of up to 100% of annual compensation based on outcomes.

The role also includes great benefits (401k, medical, dental, and vision). Total compensation package will depend on experience, qualifications, and location. We are a fully remote engineering team headquartered in Austin, Texas.
