Job Title: Scrum Master
Department: Engineering
Reports to: SVP of Product Development
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and certified Scrum Master to guide our teams in delivering high-quality software and continuous improvement in our agile processes. As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for promoting and supporting Scrum practices, coaching team members, removing impediments, and driving a culture of continuous improvement. Your role is to ensure the teams adhere to Agile principles, collaborate effectively, and deliver on the goals set forth in each sprint.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Ensure the team follows Agile practices and Scrum framework, maintaining the flow of progress and identifying areas for improvement.
• Coach and guide the team on Scrum and Agile best practices to foster team ownership, collaboration, and accountability.
• Remove impediments and shield the team from distractions that may hinder progress.
• Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog is in good shape and prioritized effectively to meet business objectives.
• Track and communicate team progress using Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Trello) and metrics such as burndown charts, velocity, and sprint reports.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation and feedback.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other Scrum Masters and teams for cross-team dependencies and alignment.
• Advocate for and support Agile transformation initiatives within the organization.
• Encourage and foster a transparent communication environment to maintain alignment with stakeholders and leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM) required.
• Proven experience (3+ years) as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile role.
• Strong understanding of Agile principles and Scrum framework.
• Hands-on experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Confluence).
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate team members toward self-organization.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented approach.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with scaling Agile in large or multi-team environments (e.g., SAFe, LeSS).
• Background in software development or technology is a plus.
• Familiarity with other Agile methodologies like Kanban or XP is desirable.
Relevant Working Conditions/ Physical Demands:
• Remote work, sitting at a computer – 6-8 hours per day
