Job Title: DB Engineer

Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer/Administrator to join our dynamic team to develop and manage our critical database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MS SQL Server, Databricks ETL, and Aurora running on AWS.
Purpose of Role
As a Database Engineer and DBA, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and security of our organization's database infrastructure. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing databases, including Microsoft SQL Server and AWS Aurora, to support our high-traffic data pipeline. The successful candidate will be able to act as a subject matter expert for database design and implementation supporting engineering and maintenance efforts.
Essential Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain database schemas, indexes, and stored procedures to support our data storage and pipeline. Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and partitioning ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
• Develop and execute migration strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime.
• Monitor database performance, health, and resource utilization. Implement proactive measures to prevent and resolve database issues, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data. Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.
• Develop and execute ETL processes using Databricks to extract, transform, and load data into SQL Server and Aurora databases.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on database technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server and AWS Aurora. Provide guidance and support to development teams on database best practices to ensure efficient data access and integration.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data analysts, and application developers to understand data requirements and ensure database alignment.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and trends.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a DBA or Database Engineer, specializing in MS SQL Server, Databricks ETL, and Aurora.
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server database administration, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security.
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• Experience with data warehousing and data modeling concepts.
• Knowledge of data pipeline tools like Databricks, Adobe Airflow, and Kafka.
• Experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure, including Aurora databases.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
• Certification in SQL Server or AWS technologies.
• Proficiency in Databricks ETL development and optimization.
• Experience with data warehousing and data modeling.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Familiarity with Salesforce and its data structures.
