Boom is on a mission to level the playing field for the 110+ million renters in the US by making housing more flexible, affordable, and rewarding. We’ve started by building an app to help renters build credit with their largest monthly expense: the rent payment. Now serving thousands of renters, Boom is led by a team of second-time founders Rob Whiting (ex-BCG, Rubicon) and Kirill Moizik (Eco, Technion, Grubhub). It's backed by investors such as Starting Line, Clocktower Ventures, Gilgamesh Ventures (Petal co-founders), and angels such as William Hockey and Zach Perret (Co-founders of Plaid) who led Boom's pre-seed round (joined by Harry Stebbings and others from places like Cash App, Mint House, Landis, Party Round, and Redfin).

Opportunity

As a Commercial Lead at Boom, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth and expansion. This will not be a rinse-and-repeat sales role where the playbooks are already made. Rather, you'll be working closely with our CEO/Co-founder to do founder-led sales, close deals, and navigate/direct the product roadmap as we receive customer feedback. You'll also work closely with the product, engineering and operations teams, the latter of which you will hand off leads to during the launch process. The expectation of this role is that you'll primarily be selling (including conference travel), but there will also be some time spent on product marketing and sales enablement. So, if solving real problems for renters and property managers while standing up and leading the go-to-market efforts for an early stage company sounds exciting, this is a great role for you. We are primarily focused on hiring candidates based in Austin, TX but are open to remote.

What you'll do

  • Identify potential customers and run the end-to-end sales process with primary focus on our real estate segment (some focus on fintech); this may include travel to industry events/conferences
  • Build and maintain relationships with real estate customers (and some fintech customers), from owners to property managers; be viewed as a subject matter expert
  • Build and execute sales enablement processes and tasks (scheduling, deck creation, follow-ups, CRM management)
  • Be the primary point person on the pipeline status and progress

What you'll need

  • Experience (2+ years of quota-carrying experience) in a new-revenue role.
  • Track record of closing deals with preferred expertise selling to real estate companies
  • Strongly preferred: experience selling B2B SaaS products in the residential real estate space
  • Exceptional prospecting, qualifying, and negotiating skills; consultative sales approach with a focus on delivering value relative to each customer’s unique business needs
  • Proven ability to interact and articulate complex solutions to all levels of a B2B buyer (preferably a real estate company)
  • Interest in real esate and financial services products and a desire to create strategic relationships that help our customers succeed
  • Knowledge of how software works at a basic level and the ability to quickly learn how Boom solutions operate ‘under the hood’
  • Excitement to work in a high-growth environment and to help build processes and tools
  • Solution-oriented mindset and an ongoing desire to ‘make it better’; not easily discouraged by rejection and the ups/downs of an early-stage business
