Job Description
We’re looking for a talented Senior Full Stack Developer with deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and a strong foundation in Python, Django, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS to join our growing team. You’ll play a crucial role in enhancing our tech stack and driving product functionality forward.
📌 This position requires working from our downtown Chicago office (205 N Michigan), allowing you to fully engage with your team and take advantage of our vibrant work environment.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails and Python/Django.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and improve product functionality.
- Build and maintain front-end components using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, ensuring responsive and user-friendly experiences.
- Implement best practices in software development, testing, and version control (Git).
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.
- Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and incorporate them into Neon for Life’s tech stack as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience working with Ruby on Rails.
- Solid knowledge of Python and Django frameworks.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies: HTML, JavaScript, CSS.
- Experience with database design and management (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative version control workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the financial services industry is a plus.
- Proven experience working in seed to Series B startups is a must.

- Take ownership of key projects, driving them from conception to deployment.
- Work closely with the cofounders and the rest of the team to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Enhance and extend Neon for Life’s current tech stack, adding new features and improving product stability.
