About the job

Builder.io is revolutionizing the way developers and teams build and manage their digital landscapes. As a leading Visual Development Platform, we seamlessly integrate with any site or app, empowering developers and enhancing team collaboration. Our core products, including a Visual CMS and the innovative AI-powered Visual Copilot, are trusted by industry giants like JCrew, Vimeo, and Mattel. As we scale, we’re looking for an Education Engineer to join our team and help us create comprehensive, clear, and engaging documentation for our products.

About the Role:

As an Education Engineer, you will play a crucial role in crafting documentation that enables developers and non-developers to leverage Builder effectively. You will work closely with our engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to understand our technology stack and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating, troubleshooting, and testing code examples for the documentation, incorporating customer and internal feedback, and collaborating with writers, engineers, and other stakeholders to continuously improve our documentation.

As an Education Engineer at Builder.io, you will:

  • Write clear, concise, and accurate documentation that adheres to the Google Developers Style Guide.
  • Be able to work with edits of and direction for your work.
  • Edit copy to company styles.
  • Create, troubleshoot, and test code examples for documentation, ensuring they are accurate and demonstrate best practices.
  • Work closely with customer and internal feedback to identify areas for improvement and iterate quickly on documentation updates.
  • Collaborate with writers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure documentation meets the needs of our users.
  • Use Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration on documentation projects.
  • Work with various technologies we document for our customers, including React, Next.js, Remix, Hydrogen, Svelte, Vue, Nuxt, Qwik, React Native, REST, Swift, Angular, and any other frameworks added to the documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong technical background with experience in software engineering and technical writing.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and succinctly.
  • Familiarity with Git and GitHub.
  • Ability to work efficiently async with team members in other time zones.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as those listed above. You do not have to know all of them, but you must have some JavaScript skill.
  • Aptitude to learn new frameworks and technologies quickly and document their use effectively.
  • Strong command line skills.
  • Strong English grammar skills with a flexible approach to writing styles.
  • A passion for inclusive writing, web accessibility, and differentiation in educational materials.
  • Ability to create videos to Builder’s documentation standards.
  • A passion for code.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or language-related fields preferred.

The items above are a starting point for a conversation, not a hard list of requirements. If this role excites you, we hope you will apply!

The estimated total compensation for the Education Engineer role is $115,000 - $165,000 USD. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors discovered during the interview process, including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

To apply, provide a written cover letter, examples of your technical writing (links are great), and code examples (GitHub repos are ideal).

Why Join Us?

At Builder.io, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team, contribute to a culture of innovation, and make a significant impact on our products and the developer community. If you’re passionate about writing clear, concise documentation and want to help developers succeed with our platform, we’d love to hear from you.
