About the job
Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance. For more than a decade, we have led our industry and worked at the frontier of applying machine learning to investment management. We have become a multibillion-dollar asset manager, and we have ambitious goals for the future. Your colleagues will include internationally recognized experts in machine learning research as well as highly experienced technology and finance professionals. The people who shape our company come from other backgrounds, too, including concert music performances, humanitarian aid, opera singing, sports writing, and BMX racing. You will be part of a team that loves to succeed together. In addition to our enriching and collegial working environment, we offer highly competitive compensation and benefits packages, technology talks by our experts, a beautiful modern office, daily catered lunches, and more.
As our Workplace Experience Lead, you will manage our Berkeley-based facilities in-person, and you will provide facilities support for our other locations. You will be responsible for the management and maintenance of our offices on a day-to-day basis. In addition, the role will include project-based work, such as vendor management, construction or move management, and more.
Responsibilities
- Oversee office facilities, including conducting regular facilities maintenance and safety inspections
- Manage vendor relationships, and provide direction to vendors
- Lead facilities-related projects, including office improvements
- Oversee day-to-day office dining services, working closely with our catering and snack vendors; maintain our pantry and manage the ordering process for all office snacks and refreshments
- Work closely with the Manager, HR and Workplace Experience, to provide an exceptional on-boarding experience for new hires; support new hires as they continue to get acquainted with our office environment.
- Coordinate and plan office events both onsite and offsite (e.g. all hands meetings, annual picnic and holiday party, happy hours and other events), working closely with People Operations, Corporate IT, and Executive Support
- Assist with various administrative tasks, including lease administration, invoice validation, and floor and seating plan management
- Ensure the safety and security of the facility, including managing security systems and vendors, maintaining emergency response plans, and ensuring compliance with all local regulatory requirements
- Contribute to oversight of operating budgets
Requirements
- 5+ years in facilities, property management or building operations
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with strong attention to detail and a proven ability to take ownership of multiple projects and manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to quickly establish relationships with vendors and staff
- Ability to travel between offices (i.e., Berkeley and New York) as needed
- A penchant for hosting board game, karaoke, or trivia nights is a plus
