About Pragma
Pragma is supporting healthy and vibrant online communities by creating a backend game engine— a platform of services and tools that enable game studios to launch live-service games.
You'll be joining a passionate, remote-first team (PT time zone) that have scaled some of the largest games in the world such as League of Legends and Destiny 2 and at studios like Riot, Bungie, and EA, and scaled platforms at Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Unity. We are grateful to have partnered with top-tier investors including Greylock, Upfront Ventures and Insight Partners.
About the Role
We are seeking a Professional Services Engineer who is passionate about partnering with customers to solve their internal development challenges. In this role, you’ll be an essential extension of our customers' development teams, helping them implement and scale their game infrastructure using Pragma’s platform. Our goal is for customers to see us as a trusted and integral part of their success, not just as an external provider.
As a lead engineer, you will collaborate with teams to design and implement game server orchestration solutions, managing the coordination between a central backend and large-scale infrastructure. You’ll be tackling complex technical challenges across bare metal, leased metal, and cloud environments to ensure optimal server provisioning and capacity management for gaming environments.
Responsibilities
Architect scalable solutions by defining architecture for large scale game server orchestration across metal and cloud.
Build and maintain core services and features that facilitate orchestration between the central backend and agents deployed onto hosts.
Address complex distributed systems challenges related to versioned deployments, rollouts, and geo-targeted matchmaking assignments.
Qualifications
A customer-oriented mindset that prioritizes problem solving.
Proven expertise in designing and managing large scale game server orchestration
Significant distributed systems software engineering experience
Experience with game server deployment and coordination
Experience with Linux server administration a plus
Job Benefits
A remote-first work environment with semi-annual in-person meetups

401(k) retirement plan with company match
Flexible vacation
Remote friendly perks such as snacks delivered monthly
