About the job
Our mission
Boom is on a mission to level the playing field for the 110+ million
Boom is building a suite of embedded and integrated rental financial services, starting with rent payment reporting to help renters build credit with their largest monthly expense, with more (not yet public) B2B and consumer-facing tools across the renter journey. Serving thousands of renters, Boom is led by second-time founders Rob Whiting (ex-BCG, Rubicon) and Kirill Moizik (Eco, Technion, Grubhub). It's backed by investors such as Starting Line, Clocktower Ventures, Gilgamesh Ventures (Petal co-founders), and angels such as William Hockey and Zach Perret (Co-founders of Plaid) and Harry Stebbings. Boom has been profiled by Inman, Business Insider, HousingWire, and more.
Opportunity
We are rapidly gaining a number of large number of large clients and partnerships, and as the product has matured and gained market share, we need a Strategy, Operations & Partnerships Lead to own and expand key client and partner relationships while also driving forward special projects. This role is great for a former management consultant, especially if you have a strong network in real estate and/or proptech. In the role, you'd be reporting to and working closely with Rob Whiting (CEO) and cross-functionally with other business functions. You'd be doing a bit of everything: defining/refining partnership strategy, owning key client/partner relationships, creating proposals, supporting sales and defining GTM strategies, and more. This a roll-up-your-sleeves role - you'll be toggling between higher-level strategy and in-the-weeds detail. There is tremendous potential for growth within the company as most of our functions are nascent and we are growing quickly. Given the importance of the role, we are primarily targeting Austin-based in-person hires for this role
What you'll do
- Own and lead strategic partnerships for Boom, from identification and proposal to partner management
- Own and lead large client account sales and management, from point of proposal (we do a fair bit of consultantive sales for larger clients) to ongoing account management
- Support sales operations, especially with creation of unique sales materials and analysis
- Lead/support special projects across the business, ranging from sales initiatives, go-to-market, new product development, customer success
- Work with the sales team to define and prioritize GTM / business development initiatives
- Support the CEO on finance, fundraise, recruiting, and investor relations efforts
- Report to Rob, our CEO / Co-Founder
What you'll need
- 3+ years of experience, preferably from a top-tier management consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, BCG)
- A network in real estate and/or proptech would be highly valuable (but not required)
- Strong presentation (i.e. decks) creation and writing abilities (e.g. for RFPs)
- Sense of urgency and fast execution
- Personable demeanor + great communicator. Not an introvert - be willing to go to conferences and approach people (not wait to be approached), pick up the phone and calll to move things forward, etc.
- An ability to think in frameworks and structure work accordingly
- Attention to detail and highly organized
Benefits of working at Boom
- Competitive salary with stock options
- Full healthcare coverage (health, dental, vision) including 50% coverage for dependents
- 15 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year + 5 sick days + all US federal holidays (11 in total) (note: we think unlimited PTO makes little sense as it often causes employees to feel guilty when they take it)
- Company-issued laptop
- Regular off-sites, monthly team events, and other company-sponsored events and travel opportunities
- Free Boom subscription
- Friday 1 Beer ritual :)
