Software Engineer Intern - Backend

Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Backend Developer with a strong foundation in Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have experience with Google Maps, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). As part of our agile team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services that power our applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Python and FastAPI.
• Implement and optimize database schemas and queries using PostgreSQL.
• Work with geocoded data, enabling geospatial queries and integrating with mapping services like Google Maps.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
• Ensure code quality, maintainability, and performance through code reviews and testing.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our tech stack and processes.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Backend Developer, preferably in a startup environment.
• Strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with geocoded queries and integrating with mapping services such as Google Maps.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its services.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Fast learner with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and frameworks.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable:

• Experience with other backend frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask).
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Understanding of front-end technologies and how they interact with backend services.
