Legal Advisor for Startup (Part time. Equity ONLY pay)

We are a global fintech platform and graduates of the Founders Institute accelerator. We have a two-sided platform that spans across multiple countries. We built an MVP, completed a pilot, and are about to officially launch in a few weeks.

We are seeking an insightful and capable attorney with compliance and regulatory experience to join our team.

Responsibilities:

• Regulatory Compliance:
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Advise on regulatory implications of business decisions and strategies.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs and policies.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update compliance measures accordingly.
• Corporate Governance:
  • Draft and review corporate documents, including articles of incorporation, bylaws, and board resolutions.
  • Advise on corporate governance best practices and ensure compliance.
  • Assist with board meetings and shareholder communications.
• Contract Negotiation and Review:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including vendor agreements, customer contracts, and employment agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel on contract terms and conditions.
• Intellectual Property:
  • Protect the company's intellectual property assets through trademark, patent, and copyright filings.
  • Advise on intellectual property licensing and infringement issues.
• General Legal Counsel:
  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of legal matters, including employment law, data privacy, and consumer protection.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor degree from a reputable law school.
• At least 3+ years of experience as an attorney, preferably in a startup or technology environment.
• Strong understanding of corporate law, contract law, and intellectual property law.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in fintech
• Familiarity with global financial compliance and regulations.
