Title: Managing Director, B2B Vertical
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Location: Remote (periodic in-person meetings)
Role Overview:
As Managing Director of Propeller’s B2B Vertical, you will take the lead in developing and implementing strategies to grow the B2B side of Propeller’s business as well as continually improve the effectiveness of day-to-day operations and the quality of service delivery.
Responsibilities:
Drive Revenue
P&L responsibility for the B2B business that generates nearly half of Propeller’s revenue
Develop and execute business strategies that expand our revenue streams and increase the value that we offer our clients
Develop a keen understanding of the reasons/drivers of client churn and develop/implement methods to address those issues and demonstrably improve client retention
Design and implement ongoing programs to optimize revenue by client and deliver upsell opportunities, i.e. ensure that we deliver on intended scope as well as uncover value-add expansion opportunities client-by-client
*Quality of Service Delivery *
As Managing director, you are ultimately responsible for the quality of service delivery for the B2B vertical
Work with your team members to ensure consistently high standards of service delivery are achieved and maintained
Report on quality results on a monthly basis
*Reporting, KPI’s, Financial Management *
Clearly articulate the impact of your strategies through the preparation of detailed forecasts
Be comfortable in clearly articulating your results -- present all aspects of performance on a monthly basis, including variance reporting
Drive metric/KPI performance, from the utilization metric of employee billable hours/total work hours, to revenue and contribution margin per head
Design and introduce insightful new KPI’s/performance measures, relevant to the B2B sector, to aid in understanding and communicating results
Own the annual budget for the B2B Vertical
Manage/Lead Professional Staff
Lead/inspire/motivate a team of 100+ professional people, both across the US and abroad, with the clear mission to deliver outstanding results for our clients
Have your finger on the pulse of your team members and our B2B clients, identifying best practices that can be leveraged across the company, along with issues and solutions that are impacting our clients
Identify and solve expertise gaps across the team to improve quality and accelerate our ability to scale the business
Serve as a mentor and role-model to the B2B team and Propeller at large
CFO Leadership
Serve as CFO to select group of clients, billing your time, to ensure that you firmly grasp our ever-changing operating climate
We believe that by working side-by-side with our CFOs and team members, you will experience greater success identifying issues and crafting truly excellent solutions
Executive Management Participation
Serve on Propeller CEO’s Executive Leadership Team
Attend Propeller Board of Directors meetings
Qualifications:
15+ years of financial and P&L leadership experience - demonstrable track record of managing and growing revenues/results and scaling high performing teams
Prior CFO experience either in a corporate environment or in a matrixed professional services organization
Hands-on experience developing strategic business plans
Experience leading distributed, remote teams; experience managing offshore teams a plus
Expertise gleaning executable insights through financial reporting and analysis
Decisive and motivational leader with strong organizational skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Calm problem-solver with the wisdom to identify successful solutions and the ability/determination to see them through to effective implementation
Experience with venture-backed start-ups
Ability and desire to mentor and develop your team members, in a way that will increase employee retention and provide them with a rewarding experience
An overall commitment/desire to truly create value for our clients, through insight and advice that helps our client founders grow their companies and attain their goals
Salary range: $250,000 - $300,000
