About the job
Hi, I’m Jonathan, an experienced consumer founder, fundraiser, product leader, and team builder. I’ve started three companies, raised $17M, hired dozens of people, and worked at Snapchat and Tinder. 👻🔥
I’m most well known as the co-founder and CEO of Timehop, where I grew the product from 0 to 25 million registered users, built a ~20 person team, and got the company to profitability. I led product, design, analytics, strategy, finance, legal, support, and operations – basically everything except writing code.
My superpower is creative product design. I ❤️ the 0 to 1 process – working with smart people to generate new ideas, build prototypes, run user testing sessions, write messaging, test markets, etc.
Where do YOU come in? Well, I’m looking for a technical partner to work closely with me on a new consumer app idea in the photo space. This will start as a contractor (for cash or equity or a combination) and could grow into a cofounder role, and I believe this is a viral idea that can be profitably bootstrapped so I don't plan to raise funding.
Specifically, I’m looking for someone with deep iOS/Swift experience in the LA region who has 20+ hours a week available to work on bringing a new idea to life from scratch. I love working in person, and I’m happy to travel to you if needed.
If you enjoy building creative consumer mobile products and you’re in the LA region, let’s chat! Please send a message listing a few of your favorite consumer iPhone apps – that way I know you’ve read this whole post and not just copy-pasted ;) All other notes will be ignored, sorry not sorry! Also let me know what you've worked on, what you're excited about, what intrigued you about this listing, what neighborhood you're in etc...
Good signs:
-You build a LOT…without being told to by someone else. A “ship it!” mentality.
-You pride yourself on keeping up with the latest technologies, attending/watching WWDC etc
-You’re equal parts craftsman (or woman) and hacker – you could craft a perfectly architectured solution…or you could cut corners and get it done in an hour. You know when to apply each :)
