Role Overview

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the server-side components of Halfgram’s app, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. Working alongside front-end engineers and product teams, you’ll support a smooth, reliable experience for our users.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage backend services and APIs to support mobile and web applications
• Design and maintain database structures for efficient data storage and retrieval
• Implement authentication, authorization, and data security protocols
• Troubleshoot and debug backend issues, ensuring high availability
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to integrate APIs and improve app performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Proficiency in server-side languages such as Node.js, Python, or Java
• Experience with database management (SQL, NoSQL) and cloud services (AWS, Firebase)
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and backend architecture

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Halfgram user (We strongly prefer candidates who are familiar with our community and understand our mission firsthand)
• Familiarity with real-time data handling (WebSocket, Pub/Sub)
• Knowledge of data security practices and scaling principles
• Interest in social media or community-driven applications
