Riley is a first-of-its-kind AI companion for parents that offers personalized recommendations and guidance for families navigating the pivotal first year of their child's life and beyond. Our mission is to provide a supportive, intelligent app that acts as a one-stop-shop for any task, question, or need that parents may have by offering personalized advice and insights based on the best available data.

We are a small but mighty team, comprised of a technical founder, design lead, and founding engineers, looking for a technical leader to help us scale.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience and advanced skills in:

  • Mobile App Development: Demonstrated mastery in building iOS applications using Swift
  • Engineering Management: 3+ years experience leading engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management
  • Team Building: Track record of building high-performing engineering teams from the ground up
  • Technical Leadership: Experience setting technical direction, making architectural decisions, and establishing engineering processes
  • Backend Integration: Experience with connecting mobile apps to backend services and managing technical partnerships
  • UI/UX Design: Ability to implement clean and responsive user interfaces
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication for both daily engagement, documentation, and leadership contexts
  • Previous startup experience preferred but not required

Additional Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Math, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience leading and building remote engineering teams is** highly desirable**
  • Strong project management skills
  • A proactive and dedicated mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage environment
  • Experience managing engineering budgets and resources is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical direction and development of our iOS app
  • Build and scale the mobile engineering team, including recruiting, hiring, and mentoring
  • Establish engineering best practices, processes, and documentation
  • Build and maintain the foundational iOS app using Swift
  • Collaborate with the backend team to integrate services
  • Develop and enhance the user interface for a seamless user experience
  • Ensure the app's performance, quality, and responsiveness
  • Balance elegant and general code with speed and product goals
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on team progress and technical roadmap

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute hiring plans to build out the mobile engineering team
  • Create and maintain career development frameworks for the engineering team
  • Establish engineering processes and best practices that scale
  • Mentor and grow engineering talent
  • Collaborate with product and design leads to define technical strategy
  • Manage team performance and provide regular feedback
