QA Engineer

The required skills for a Test Engineer position are:

1. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in software testing.
2. Must be good at understanding user requirements. Testing must be driven by requirements.
3. Must have a good understanding of test strategy for each of the different perspectives of testing – functional, security, usability, etc.
4. Must write effective test cases.
5. Must write test scripts to automate test cases, including integration tests, and UI tests.
6. Must be knowledgeable about test frameworks. Desirable: Skills in frameworks like Cucumber
7. Must be knowledgeable about tools to estimate and report effectiveness of testing – coverage, etc. Typical responsibilities include:
8. Write test cases for functional testing, performance testing, security testing, usability testing and other testing needs.
9. Write automated test cases wherever needed.
10. Report on test coverage.
11. Perform regression testing for existing features for each new release.
12. Must try hard to break the system through test cases, rather than merely confirming correct working of the system.
13. Must provide a comprehensive test report for each release (Sprint or Product.) Typical candidate would be:
14. Engineering graduate with a B.E/B.Tech. in Computer Science/Information Science.
15. Possess good communication skills and clearly articulate in both written and verbal communication modes with team members and management.
16. Great team player and understand own strengths and weakness and be responsive to suggestions for improvements.
17. Highly analytical and understand the dependencies between modules in a system and their influence on each other for stability of the system.
18. Have a good understanding of business requirements and appreciate the fact that user is in the center of the application we build! Have a user-centric view of application development.
