The Opportunity
Managemate is seeking a motivated, flexible and customer-focused individual to join our startup as a Business Development Representative. This role is best suited for an individual who is passionate about SaaS sales and is keen on growing into an account executive role.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a startup or in a role that required them to “wear different hats”. The successful candidate will identify and engage potential new condominium board director and property manager prospects through various channels, including networking events, industry conferences, social media and direct outreach.

About the Role
In this role, you’ll get to:
- Work closely and collaboratively with our Founder & CEO, who leads managemate’s sales and customer success teams
- Contact and build relationships with potential customers who experience problems our software can solve
- Conduct outbound sales by executing on our existing sales process and by leveraging our sales playbook, which is used for qualifying prospects, framing discovery calls and handling objections
- Create, test, iterate and expand on our established sales processes, including by using cold calling and email outreach techniques
- Qualify inbound and outbound-sourced leads based on defined criteria
- Schedule qualified leads for discovery meetings and software demonstrations with managemate’s account executive
- Achieve or exceed monthly/quarterly targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for your outbound prospecting efforts.
Team Player who can assist with Customer Success
As a small but growing startup, our staff work closely with all departments within managemate, stepping in to assist each other as needed. The successful candidate will support, participate in and potentially lead customer success initiatives as needed including onboarding, training, and data migration.
We’re looking for energetic and well-spoken people who:
- Are interested in speaking with clients regularly to understand their “jobs to be done”, their challenges and the value they are trying to get using managemate’s software
- Have either previous successful sales experience OR a strong desire to begin a sales career path as a BDR and an account executive if you’re new to sales in the tech industry,
- Are goal-oriented, self-motivated, and passionate about succeeding in a metric-driven sales role
- Communicate articulately both over the phone and in written format (e.g. email; LinkedIn, etc.)
- Are comfortable making daily cold calls and spending your day on the phone and email
- Are motivated at the prospect of attending industry seminars, conferences and other networking events and exhibiting at tradeshows with your account executive
- Have a natural curiosity and takes ownership to learn new things while also proactively seeking coaching from both peers and managers
- Have experience with or willingness to learn sales tools such as Pipedrive, Sales Navigator, etc.Love working in a fast-paced, challenging environment with a small but growing team
Occasional Travel Required:
Managemate is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. We currently provide services to condominium clients in and around Toronto, including Hamilton and Kitchener.
Travel will be required to visit clients and attend networking events, trade shows and conferences. Travel is not expected to exceed one or two client or networking events per week. For the most part, meetings and events are held in Toronto. Managemate will cover all reasonable and pre-approved travel costs.
Qualifications and Requirements

- Demonstrated ability to see a process through from start to finish.
- Demonstrated experience in a business development role, preferably in a SaaS environment or the real estate sector.
- A willingness to learn, understand the problem we’re trying to solve, and the jobs our customers are trying to accomplish.
- Familiarity with the condominium industry is an asset, though not a firm requirement.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organized with the ability to create and maintain documentation.
- Adaptability and a willingness to take on diverse responsibilities in a small team.
Compensation:
Competitive salary commensurate with experience, in the range of $55,000 to $65,000 CAD annually, plus performance-based commissions and an opportunity to receive equity in the company. Commission will be earned and payable based on applicable metrics, such as discovery calls booked with qualified leads. Benefits include 3 weeks paid vacation and 5 paid sick days, available pro-rata beginning on the start date.
