Irradia Solutions is performing a feasibility study in collaboration with the SHINE Technologies LLC technical staff. This collaboration is focused on determining an optimal fission reactor core configuration using a SHINE neutron source to create an adequate neutron flux for irradiation services in a subcritical configuration. The applicant will assist in the core design in a multitude of ways.
Primary responsibilities and capabilities:
· Skilled in nuclear reactor physics; proficiency in and access to reactor analyses codes such as MCNP, SASI, NJOY, RELAP5, and open source codes will be required.
· Perform layout and analyses of reactor core layouts at a conceptual level.
· Estimate levels of flux for experimental positions in the reactor core.
· Perform peer review of calculations performed by others.
· Assessment of depletion over a selected operating cycle.
· Determine neutron flux energy along with other reactor operating conditions such as temperature, flow, pressure, power level.
· Develop down-select criteria for a preferred core concept.
· Other analyses to determine viability of chosen concepts.
Qualification Requirements and Preferences:
· At least a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or other related and relevant field.
· 2 years of experience in doing core design layouts and associated analyses.
· Exceptional attention to detail.
· Able to devote a minimum of 20 hours/week.
