About the job

WHO ARE WE
Halo Braid is a mission-driven startup engineering healthier and happier hair. Our first product is an AI-powered automatic hair braider. It reduces braiding time from hours to minutes, empowering stylists to triple their business, and addressing the 8 billion hours spent braiding hair each year. Our team of VC-backed serial founders and engineers brings experience from MIT, Harvard, Apple, Dyson, and Rivian.

ABOUT YOU
You’re a Mechanical Engineer that can help build our next hair product. You’re passionate, dynamic,
embrace challenges and like working on interesting problems. You want to build things real people want. This is a unique opportunity to launch a new product and create significant impact in an overlooked industry.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Halo Braid is looking for a mechanical engineer to help us refine our product. This role is a contract position where you will collaborate with the founding team, engineers and designers to build the product. You’re a strong problem solver who can design and prototype under deadlines. You’ll develop key mechanisms to drive product design architecture to closure.

Ideally you have 4+ years professional experience with:

  • 3D Solidworks CAD with best practices for part design, complex assemblies and configurations
  • Rapid prototyping and manufacturing (3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting)
  • Mass manufacturing methods (injection molding, CNC etc.)
  • Experience working directly with industrial designers translating CMF requirements into mechanical design
  • Crafting and testing proof-of-concept models and prototypes
  • Gears, motors, and mechatronic components
  • Delivering complex mechanical products to defined schedules

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • Design for human interaction
  • Mass produced consumer electronics
  • Hair styling tools

We highly value diversity at our company and encourage applications from all backgrounds.
