About the job

SprintFWD is a leading professional services and technology development company specializing in the fitness and wellness industry. We partner with leading brands to create custom web, mobile, data, integration, and marketing technology solutions.

Our teams work across a wide range of technologies, platforms, and client environments, including AWS, React, APIs, CRM and member-management systems, marketing technology platforms, Jira, and Confluence. We are committed to innovation, technical excellence, and helping our clients succeed in a rapidly evolving industry.

About the Role

SprintFWD is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead and advance our quality assurance function.

This is not a role focused solely on executing test cases or identifying defects. The right person must be able to investigate complex problems across multiple technology stacks, determine their root causes, and work with the appropriate teams to design and validate effective solutions.

The Quality Assurance Manager will also serve as a trusted communicator between technical teams, non-technical stakeholders, clients, and executive leadership.

This person must be able to clearly explain what was implemented, how it was tested, what risks remain, and why stakeholders should have confidence in the quality of the final product.

As the leader of SprintFWD’s QA function, this individual will manage QA resources while building the processes, standards, tools, reporting, and long-term strategy required to scale quality assurance across the organization. This role is ideal for someone who thrives with autonomy, approaches challenges with an entrepreneurial mindset, and can build a department while remaining aligned with SprintFWD’s broader vision and standards.

This is a fully remote position.

What You Will Own

Technical Investigation and Problem-Solving

  • Investigate complex defects and system behaviors across web, mobile, cloud, API, CRM, member-management, data, and marketing technology environments.
  • Identify root causes—not simply symptoms—and determine whether issues originate in application code, integrations, APIs, data transformations, platform configuration, business logic, environments, or third-party systems.
  • Develop a practical path to resolution and collaborate with engineers, product managers, project managers, vendors, and client teams to implement and validate the solution.
  • Understand how data and user actions move across connected systems and evaluate quality across the complete end-to-end experience.
  • Anticipate edge cases, integration failures, data inconsistencies, performance risks, and downstream impacts before they reach production.
  • Balance technical depth with business context to prioritize issues according to customer impact, operational risk, and organizational goals.

QA Strategy and Execution

  • Define and implement SprintFWD’s comprehensive quality assurance strategy, including standards, processes, tools, documentation, and release-readiness criteria.
  • Establish appropriate test strategies for individual projects based on architecture, business requirements, technical risk, and client expectations.
  • Create and oversee test plans, test cases, regression suites, acceptance criteria, and validation procedures.
  • Direct and participate in manual and automated testing across web, mobile, API, integration, data, and marketing technology solutions.
  • Establish consistent definitions of ready, done, blocked, passed, failed, and approved across projects.
  • Integrate quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle rather than treating QA as a final release checkpoint.
  • Define release gates and provide clear go/no-go recommendations based on evidence, risk, and business impact.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities for test automation, process improvement, and earlier defect prevention.

Leadership and Department Development

  • Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of QA professionals, creating clear expectations and accountability for quality outcomes.
  • Forecast QA capacity, staffing requirements, testing timelines, tools, and resources across SprintFWD’s active and upcoming work.
  • Assign QA resources based on project complexity, delivery schedules, technical risk, and team capabilities.
  • Develop the QA department’s operating model and roadmap as SprintFWD continues to grow.
  • Establish repeatable processes that can scale across multiple clients, products, technology stacks, and simultaneous releases.
  • Create training, documentation, and career-development practices that improve the capabilities of the broader QA team.
  • Foster a culture in which quality is a shared responsibility across QA, engineering, product, project management, and client teams.
  • Operate independently while ensuring that QA priorities and practices remain aligned with SprintFWD’s vision, delivery standards, and business objectives.

Communication and Executive Reporting

  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, concise explanations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers at the implementation level and with client executives and C-suite leaders at the business-impact level.
  • Clearly explain what was built, how it was validated, what defects were discovered, how they were resolved, and what risks or limitations remain.
  • Present QA strategies, release-readiness assessments, incident findings, and improvement recommendations with confidence and credibility.
  • Develop executive-level reporting that connects quality metrics to customer experience, delivery performance, operational risk, and business outcomes.
  • Lead productive conversations when defects, delivery risks, or technical limitations require difficult decisions.
  • Ensure that stakeholders have appropriate visibility into QA progress, blockers, ownership, and next steps.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with developers, product managers, project managers, client services teams, and external vendors to establish QA priorities and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate actively in requirements gathering, backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and release planning.
  • Identify unclear or incomplete requirements before development begins and help teams translate business expectations into testable outcomes.
  • Advocate for quality while maintaining a practical understanding of delivery timelines, client commitments, and business priorities.
  • Coordinate the validation of complex workflows that span multiple platforms, vendors, and client systems.

Measurement and Continuous Improvement

  • Define and monitor meaningful QA metrics and key performance indicators, including defect leakage, regression coverage, defect recurrence, test execution, resolution time, release quality, and production stability.
  • Identify trends across projects and convert findings into actionable improvements.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses and post-release reviews for significant production issues.
  • Maintain and enhance QA tools, frameworks, documentation, and workflows using Jira, Confluence, and other relevant platforms.
  • Stay current on emerging QA methodologies, automation capabilities, AI-assisted testing, security considerations, and technology trends.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including meaningful ownership of QA strategy or team leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and help resolve complex technical problems across multiple applications, systems, integrations, and technology stacks.
  • Experience leading QA activities throughout the complete software development lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design, regression testing, integration testing, API testing, user acceptance testing, and defect management.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or coordinating QA professionals across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to forecast QA capacity, resources, timelines, and risks within an Agile delivery environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with developers, non-technical stakeholders, clients, and C-suite executives.
  • Experience creating quality metrics, release-readiness reporting, executive summaries, and risk-based recommendations.
  • Strong analytical judgment, curiosity, ownership, and root-cause problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and build structure in an evolving organization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with demonstrated success creating or improving teams, processes, or organizational capabilities.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and modern QA or test-management tools.
  • Experience with AWS, React, APIs, system integrations, data workflows, or marketing technology platforms is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or scaling a QA function, team, or center of excellence.
  • Experience working in a professional services, consulting, agency, or multi-client delivery environment.
  • Experience overseeing both manual and automated testing programs.
  • Familiarity with CRM, member-management, marketing technology, analytics, and data-integration ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting enterprise clients or presenting technical findings to executive stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the fitness and wellness industry and its associated technology platforms.

Within this role, success means:

  • SprintFWD has a clear, repeatable, and scalable QA operating model.
  • Technical problems are identified early, investigated thoroughly, and driven toward practical resolution.
  • QA resources and capacity are proactively planned across current and upcoming projects.
  • Project teams understand and consistently follow established quality standards.
  • Leadership and clients receive clear, credible visibility into release quality, technical risk, and remediation.
  • Defects reaching production decrease, recurring issues are addressed at their root cause, and overall delivery confidence improves.
  • The QA function becomes a proactive strategic partner to the business—not simply the final checkpoint before release.

What We Offer

  • A fully remote and flexible working environment.
  • The opportunity to lead and shape the future of quality assurance at SprintFWD.
  • Meaningful autonomy and ownership over QA strategy, processes, tools, and team development.
  • The opportunity to solve complex technical challenges across diverse technology ecosystems.
  • Direct collaboration with technical teams, company leadership, clients, and executive stakeholders.
  • The opportunity to work with leading brands in the fitness and wellness industry.
  • A dynamic and supportive team with opportunities for continued professional growth.

SprintFWD is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
