Othram is the world’s only laboratory purpose-built to combine genome sequencing with advanced human identification applications. The laboratory, based in The Woodlands, Texas, is also the only facility in the United States or Canada offering end-to-end, in-house processing from forensic evidence to investigative leads. Over the last three years, this technology has helped law enforcement crack hundreds of cases at the local, state, and federal level, many of which had been unsolved for decades.
Job Description
The Grant Writer will identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned company initiatives as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in areas that support Othram’s initiatives. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of program activities that are funded by federal, state, and private funding agencies.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify new government, corporate, foundation and private funding prospects that match Othram’s priorities
- Generate high-quality proposals, narratives, applications and supporting documents in response to solicitations consistent with all the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies
- Maintain primary responsibility for grant schedules and tracking grants
- Serve as a liaison to funding agencies and organizations
- Work with appropriate personnel to research, develop, write and submit letters of inquiry, concept papers and grant proposals
- Coordinates and follows-up on the progress of submitted proposals
Requirements
- Grant writing experience, preferably from academic research institutions or non-profit organizations
- Proven track record of securing new funding opportunities
- Excellent writing and verbal skills
- Highly organized with the ability to implement workflows and follow-up processes
- Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently, in a fast-paced environment
