Othram is the world’s only laboratory purpose-built to combine genome sequencing with advanced human identification applications. The laboratory, based in The Woodlands, Texas, is also the only facility in the United States or Canada offering end-to-end, in-house processing from forensic evidence to investigative leads. Over the last three years, this technology has helped law enforcement crack hundreds of cases at the local, state, and federal level, many of which had been unsolved for decades.
Job Description
The Law Enforcement Liaison is a part-time position that will be responsible for leveraging relationships from previous professional experience in law enforcement to identify opportunities for agencies to utilize advanced DNA testing technology and forensic genetic genealogy for law enforcement casework. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in law enforcement that might include cold or contemporary unsolved violent crimes. The Law Enforcement Liaison must be customer-obsessed, proactive, and an excellent verbal and written communicator.
Responsibilities
- Engage with contacts and set up meetings to discuss Othram's DNA testing technology
- Document and track meetings and discussions
- Identify and document cases that may be suitable for Othram's DNA testing technology
- Determine next steps to advance opportunities
- Support agencies in onboarding casework using Othram's law enforcement portal
- Facilitate the submission of cases to the laboratory for testing
- Identify opportunities for Othram to present at regional events or training sessions
- Represent Othram at regional events or training sessions
Requirements
- Previous experience working in law enforcement or in a prosecutor’s office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to independently manage time and workload
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently, in a fast-paced environment
- A familiarity with genetic genealogy is preferred
