lawtutor.io is the first online tutoring platform in the UK to focus exclusively on law tutoring. We noticed that there has been an increasing demand for knowledgeable and passionate law tutors. The problem, however, is that there has been no single destination for law learners, them scrambling through various tutoring platforms in search of a suitable tutor. In a vicious cycle, any single platform will fail to attract a significant body law graduates, who would like to focus on teaching their specialty but struggle to make it worthwhile absent a sufficient concentration of law students on that platform. We acknowledged and addressed this dilemma.

Moreover, what makes us different from the conventional tutoring platforms is that we see ourselves as something more than the middleman between the learner and the tutor. We take an active role in building and maintaining a network, supporting legal prospects all the way from law school admissions to further study and careers.

WHAT DO WE DO BETTER?

Not only are we specialised in what we do, but we also generally do online tutoring bigger, better, faster, cheaper. We employ sophisticated statistical measures to monitor tutor performance, ask for our tutors' input in our tutoring policies, among other innovations in the online education space - all at a low, fixed commission because we are efficient at what we do.

WHERE DO YOU FIT IN?

Ideally, you would have experience and interest in
1) Full-stack development (PHP/HTML/CSS/MySQL/JS). The company owns the source-code of a ready-made website, which, however, requires some adjustments and periodic maintenance.
2) Servers. Just because I am too impatient to set up local production and testing environments myself.
3) Statistical analysis. As users accrue, you will use your statistician's superpowers to uncover trends in order to improve the efficiency of our operations as well as to identify new opportunities for growth.
4) Algorithmic development. Develop algorithms to match learners with tutors, algorithms to rank tutors by performance, algorithms to this, algorithms to that...
5) Machine learning models. And then you will feed these algorithms to machine learning models to make them even better!
6) (optional) AWS. Our website and databases are hosted on AWS Cloud so some familiarity with AWS is welcome.

At the start, most of your time would be dedicated to the web development aspect as we aim to publish the platform by the end of the year. However, once the site is up and running, you would have the opportunity to venture into uncharted waters. As the end product will look (almost) as much like you as it looks like me, your imagination is the only limit for what you can make out of this role!

WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR?

We are looking for a person who will get along with our one-man band consisting of a legally educated, mathematically minded, athletically inclined edgelord. High IQ desirable, high EQ optional. Creativity, resourcefulness, and an open attitude towards life highly appreciated.
