Machine Learning Engineer

We're looking for a machine learning expert with significant experience implementing and optimizing generative models to help build and scale Storytime's synthetic media creation tools. You will be responsible for researching, implementing, and improving state-of-the-art methods in machine generation of images, video, speech, and music. You’ll work closely with Storytime’s founders to innovate new approaches to media synthesis and develop clear, achievable technical roadmaps. You'll also work with other engineers and artists at Storytime to make this inspiring technology accessible and fun to use.

Preferred Experience

• Deep knowledge of and practical experience with generative models (GANs, VAEs, Transformers, etc.), especially for image/video/audio generation and manipulation
• Fluency in Python and common deep learning software frameworks, esp. PyTorch
• Strong programming skills and ability to implement methods in research papers accurately and efficiently

Bonus Points

• MS or PhD in machine learning, computer science, or related field
• 2+ years practical experience with state-of-the-art methods in speech synthesis (e.g, text-to-speech, voice conversion) and/or image generation (VQGAN, StyleGAN, diffusion models)
• Experience optimizing model inference speed and performance for deployment on compute-restrained GPUs (e.g., mobile devices)
• Experience developing and maintaining large-scale data-processing pipelines
• Familiarity with cloud-based compute infrastructure, esp. Google Cloud Platform
