About Degree Insurance
Degree Insurance is a venture backed, high growth startup. We have pioneered a novel insurance product that guarantees that a college degree will work for each student. Degree Insurance guarantees that a college graduate would make no less than the median salary based on their major for the 5 years following graduation. We sell the insurance directly to colleges and other organizations invested in college outcomes. Colleges then use the confidence in a guaranteed outcome to recruit and retain students. Students will have the confidence to enroll and graduate, knowing that their degree is guaranteed to work for them. It's new, it's innovative, and it's changing the landscape of higher education.

We are currently licensed as an insurance company in 10 states with other pending applications. The team (though small), and the mission to make sure that the investment in a college education pays off for ALL graduates - are both first rate.

Job Opportunity
We are looking for a sales person for our early stage startup to sell this innovative product. This role would be selling to college and university administrators. The position reports to, and would work closely with, our Vice President.

Responsibilities for Sales Executive

  • Identifies business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry; researching and analyzing sales options.
  • Develops partnerships pipelines and maintain relationships with community organizations invested in education
  • Maintains relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities.
  • Stay current with trends and competitors to identify improvements or recommend new products.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.
  • Build and maintain professional networks

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with a concentration in marketing, promotions, advertising sales, or business administration preferred
  • One to three years of sales experience
  • Pass insurance licensing exams within 2 months
  • Required skills:
  • Competency in English
  • Ability to negotiate and understanding of marketing techniques
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, desire to deliver results
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging presentations
  • Availability to travel often (up to 50% of time)
  • Ability to adapt and grow in a competitive environment

Pay range: $55,000 -$65,000 / year base PLUS UNCAPPED commissions
Company HQ Location: This position would be based in our Lehi, UT or Arlington Heights, IL office with an expectation that the employee would be in the office when not on the road.
