About the job
About Us
We are a women’s lifestyle neurotechnology company, currently developing a wearable neurotechnology solution to empower women to respond to their cycle related challenges in an instant, safe and drug-free way. Cycle-related challenges - such as pain, mood and cognitive challenges - are experienced by more than 80% of women, and arise throughout the menstrual, gestational and menopausal cycles. There’s a chronic lack of research, investment and solutions in the field of women’s health. Let’s change that! We are growing quickly, and are working to define a brand new category of women's health solutions together with our team members, who share the agency and the autonomy to further our vision. We’re hiring across product design, hardware and software engineering. We’re currently stealth, but will become public in early 2022. We like to challenge – and to be challenged – in the process of reimagining what holistic women's wellbeing could look like in the future. Therefore, we are especially interested in working with candidates who identify as women or non-binary, as we value your lived experience and connection with the problem we're tackling. We would also love to work with people from a diversity of other backgrounds, including non white or first in family, and aim to emphasise the perspectives of people underrepresented in tech in shaping the industry.
About you
- Track record: You like getting your hands dirty, and have a history of working to successfully bring at least one mobile (iOS) application to market.
- Ownership and Autonomy: You want to come on board at an early stage, so you can have influence over the eventual direction of the product. You want to be one of the first members of what will soon be a big team.
- Collaborator: You may not have had a formal leadership role in the past, but you’re comfortable making and owning product related decisions, and are ready to share your experience with others.
- User experience fanatic: We’re building a category defining product, and user experience is crucial to us. You should be comfortable thinking through user flows, the emotive states that certain design choices will create, and how a mobile application can best guide an end user through a compelling experience.
- Generalist: You probably describe yourself as a generalist. You have a reasonable level of expertise with software engineering and design, but wouldn’t place yourself squarely in either group.
- Strategic: You want days that are about 70% “on the tools” and 30% “making sure we’re going in the right direction”.
- Practical: You understand that we’re working to make our product available to millions of people around the world, so quality matters.
- Passionate: You want to work on meaningful products that will not only bring forward the first solution to women’s problems that had been ignored in the past, but also define a category as the first women’s neurotechnology product, as well as further our knowledge and research on women’s wellness that will enable future product generations.
You do not need to meet all of these criteria in order to apply.
About the role
We are currently in the early prototyping phase of our first wearable product, and are fully funded. This wearable product is controlled by an (iOS) mobile application, and our user’s first interaction with the product will be through their phones. In this role, you will have agency and autonomy in guiding our product's software component, helping to design and build our application experience. The role especially suits a “top-down” thinker, starting from the user experience. Having said that, you should be comfortable with developing at a prototype level as well and experimenting with solutions. Beyond that, in this role you would work very closely with our hardware, science, commercial, logistics and community/marketing team members to bring our product to commercial release, and beyond. Your individual role, ultimately, will be your own, as you’ll be joining a small and inspired team so we will work together to make sure it works for you just as it does for us. We’re very open to remote work. We are open to applications from people of all backgrounds and especially welcome those from backgrounds under-represented in STEM and tech. You will be compensated competitively based on experience and equity options are negotiable. If you’d like to learn more, say hello to Em and Alex at [email protected]
