About the job
About Zevero
We're a ClimateTech start-up solving the biggest challenge facing humanity, climate change. Zevero (zevero.earth) is building a web-based product that helps businesses measure and monitor their carbon footprint, prioritising accuracy, and speed. We are currently developing our MVP with an external developer. We have customers and future funding confirmed post MVP. We're looking for a talented individual to lead this project and our full product launch.
Who We Are
Zevero was co-founded by George and Ben. We were both working in the sustainability/carbon sector before Zevero and realised that climate action is hard, businesses don't have the tools they need to reduce their emissions and they often don't know where to start. We’re on a mission to make the process of knowing and more importantly reducing your emissions easier through software.
Key Points
- You must care about climate action and want to create world-changing products.
- You are a hands-on software developer who is comfortable with getting stuck in and building for scale
- Ideally based in London or hybrid with the availability to visit the office 2/3 days a week Salaried position with equity options.
The Role
You’ll lead the development of our web-based platform to help businesses measure, monitor, and reduce their emissions. You’ll be responsible for helping define the tech stack and product strategy, hiring your own team as well as inputting on key strategic decisions. This is a position for someone who wants to own the whole tech process and loves a challenge.
Who You Are
- A desire to make climate action accessible. You want to help build a product that makes it easy for businesses to reduce their carbon footprint.
- You're motivated to work in an early-stage start-up. Zevero is moving fast, so uncertainty and hard work must be an exciting challenge. Previous experience at an early-stage company or as a founder is a bonus.
- Strong preference for a role in which every day you'll be thinking on your feet, dealing with complex problems end-to-end, driving forward initiatives, actively shaping, and challenging product decisions at every level.
- Someone who thinks big acts bravely and challenges norms for the better
- Creative and solutions-orientated who takes full responsibility for their work
- Someone with a business focus when delivering the work prioritising business and customer value over technical perfection.
Key Tasks / Responsibilities
- You'll be one of the first hires outside of the founders and you will be responsible for leading our tech strategy.
- Working with our outsourced development team to transfer the development process in-house.
- Work as a leader to execute the technical road map to build the tools and solutions companies need to hit net-zero.
- Experience leading a team and getting people to achieve their best (you'll be building your own team over the next few years).
Technical Skills
- 2+ years experience as a professional Software Engineer preferred
- Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computer Science, or any other STEM field with a background in software.
- Significant experience in communicating and working with software teams, working towards building inclusive and fun working environments (you'll be building your own team over the next few years).
- Experience working with and supporting wider engineering teams with a variety of needs and experience levels preferred but not required.
- Ability to create, run and set up automated synthetic tests (Cypress).
- Experience working in mono environments, aka 'just production'.
- Experience working with Node JS (in production systems.)
Experience with at least some of the following, and a willingness to get stuck into the rest of them:
- Python / Django
- React,
- RESTful APIs
- SQL (PostgreSQL)
- AWS
- Designing, running and supporting highly available and reliable production systems
- Designing monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies.
Nice to haves
- Experience or understanding of early-stage tech startups, even better if it is B2B SaaS.
- Experience setting up sustainable DevOps processes, such as modern CI/CD and engineering tooling.
- Experience in working closely with a designer to implement and evolve a UI design system.
Benefits + Salary ⛱️
- 28 days annual holiday
- Matched pension contributions
- We'll get you the hardware you need to work (we love a standing desk)
- Salary is dependent on experience. Once we raise our seed (March 2022) you will also receive a great salary increase.
Please send your CV and and let us know why you want to work with us!
