About the job
Chief Technical Officer
Full-Time
Quick Click Security is a start-up, technology company in a very exciting growth phase.
We are a digital platform centralising access to jobs, training, resources, knowledge and networks for all those in or wanting to join the private security industry. A LinkedIn, for the security industry.
We are currently a very small development team looking for a new technically-minded leader with a passion for web development and delivering newer and better experiences through innovative technology.
Job Description
We are looking for a new Chief Technical Officer (CTO) who will work directly with the CEO to deliver Quick Click Security’s vision for a better way of networking, learning, recruiting and discovering new careers in the private security sector.
The CEO is looking for a new collaborator with technical expertise and the drive to build a new online service. Although this role sits at the executive level, the current size of the company means you will be directly involved in both programming and business development duties.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working with the CEO to discuss business strategy and fundraising endeavours.
- Supporting the CEO in general business management activities.
- Working with the CEO to develop new product ideas and designs.
- Directly developing the codebase (backend, frontend and devops).
- Building and managing a team of developers (eventually).
About You
- We are looking for someone who has experience in building web applications to help accelerate the development of the QCS platform.
- We are a young start-up with a very small team so we need someone who is already very familiar with the tools we’ve begun to use and can therefore lead and create positive changes from the very start.
- You are passionate about delivering a high quality experience. We want to deliver a sublime user experience to our customers which means this needs to be something you’re passionate about too. Your work should also be considerate of delivering the best experience to the users.
- You’re comfortable juggling multiple topics at once. We want someone that is comfortable thinking about all aspects of a web app at a time. As the technical product leader you should be able to take an interest and have an opinion on all the pieces required to make a web app work.
- You are a clear communicator. You should understand the importance of clearly communicating your ideas and be able to work effectively and respectfully with both peers and subordinates.
- You are a decision maker. You should enjoy collaborative problem solving but must also be very comfortable and confident in your own decisions. As a company leader you will be expected to take ownership over almost all technical topics and maybe some non-technical topics..
Technical knowledge
- At least 4 years experience working in a full-time web application software development role.
- At least 2 years experience managing a software development team.
- Experienced and very confident with at least one of these domains:
- Python, Django
- TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue3
- Experienced in software testing principles and techniques.
- Confident with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools.
- Other things we’d like but are not essential:
- Experience in backend development (our backend has been developed with Python (Django) and PostgreSQL).
- Experience in frontend development (our frontend has been developed with Vue 3 in TypeScript).
Working Environment
We would ideally like you in the office 2-3 times/week.
We use Microsoft Teams to maintain contact between each other. We believe being able to see each other is important and improves our engagement and ability to work as a remote community so you will be expected to use video too, except for special circumstances.
You will need to use your own laptop and/or computer as we can not provide you with a work machine. If required, we will provide guidance on setting up your machine to begin development.
We have a flexible working hour policy which can be fine-tuned to your needs. In general, we will expect everyone to be available during the core part of the day but can adapt as necessary. With this in mind, you are monitored on performance and outputs, not exact hours worked.
We believe in and wish to actively create a diverse working environment. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran, neurodiversity status or disability status.
