Senior Backend Engineer

At Nvstr (“Investor”) our mission is to help everyone become a better investor. Our technology-driven brokerage platform empowers users with insightful community discussion, commentary from experts, and easy to use analysis tools.

We're looking for an exceptionally driven backend engineer to join our team. Responsibilities include:

• Write and maintain server code in Ruby on Rails
• Extend REST APIs
• Optimize SQL queries
• Architect and implement distributed data stores
• Integrate third party services
• Background process automation
• Work well with a fast-moving, interdisciplinary team

We’re looking for candidates with these skills:

• Experience scaling backend systems to millions of users
• Experience with distributed data systems
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs
• Experience designing and implementing microservices
• Expert in a server scripting language like Ruby, Python, or Node.js
• Expert in SQL and an RDBMS like Postgres
• Experience using AWS in a production environment
• Keen attention to detail

Other favorable skills:

• HTML and CSS
• React or React Native
• Machine learning
• Experience in financial technology or financial services
• Math, physics, statistics, or data science background
• Experience working at a startup
