Mobile Engineer

Solo is the operating system for the 75m+ app-based gig workers to manage their business and maximize their earnings potential. Solo tracks data across multiple platforms to provide city-level pay and performance benchmarks, including hour-by-hour earnings predictions that Solo guarantees, making up the difference if pay is less.

What you will do

We are looking for a unique software engineer who understands the deep technical aspects of mobile phone hardware / operating systems and uses that knowledge to build features that work under a wide variety of scenarios. The ideal candidate understands how to work around mobile application permissions to collect geo data, how to identify/fix features that take a heavy toll on the battery. You will be setting up / enhancing a monitoring system that gives us a real-time pulse of what our customers are facing, allowing for a quick response to fixing crashes and slow screens. Proven experience in automating mobile app builds would be a definite plus. You are going to drive innovation in the mobile space by suggesting new solutions to problems, not reinventing the wheel when another solution is available, working collaboratively across both front end/back end with a singular focus on getting results fast.

Qualifications

• Experience building a consumer mobile app that has to work in non-ideal conditions (lack of data connectivity, low power, etc)
• Knowledge of Ruby on Rails, React Native, Javascript, AWS, Sentry, xCode and Redis
• Proven ability to deliver features and create frameworks based on customer learnings, UI/UX testing, etc.
• Capable of debugging and root-cause distributed systems
• Understanding of mobile build systems, automating builds, build submissions
• Background in package management and verification
• Familiarity with app performance and metric monitoring (ex: Sentry)
