At Zenput, you will own the content for our Food Safety and Operational Excellence product. Specifically, the API documentation and UI copy. As the first Technical Writer on the team, you will have the opportunity to create processes and documentation that will help scale the product and its technical writing discipline. You will be based in our new and rapidly growing office in Guadalajara, MX helping us scale our strong value-based culture.

At Zenput, being a Technical Writer means:
Planning, creating and maintaining educational content as an integral part of the product or user experience. The content can often be documentation, UI copy, sample code, videos, or other educational material.
Editing, clarifying, and proofreading documents written by others and coaching non-writers to improve their writing skills.
Being part of cross-functional teams with members from Product, Design, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success, Support, and Sales where each team has clear OKRs that they are responsible for.

What you’ll do

  • Plan, create, and maintain internal and external documentation for Zenput’s Food Safety and Operational Excellence solution.
  • Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to ensure the quality and accuracy of the content you create and develop.
  • Manage complex documentation projects from start to finish.
  • Supplement developer documentation with relevant sample code.
  • Analyze existing content to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive the technical writing practice at Zenput by creating and implementing processes and documentation.
  • Drive successful product adoption through communications and documentation.

What we are looking for

  • 2+ years experience in writing, technical documentation, and/or developer outreach for a developer audience or equivalent experience.
  • Native-level written English and Spanish grammar and language skills.
  • Hands-on experience writing documentation for developers.
  • Hands-on experience documenting REST APIs, JSON, XML.
  • Experience writing in Markdown.
  • Hands-on experience with version control (such as Git or Subversion.)
  • Ability to read and understand source code written in Python and/or JavaScript.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a constantly changing environment.
