[freespace] - A temporary community space for lasting change
Submitted as San Francisco's contribution to the National Day of Civic Hacking in 2013. A 14,000 sq. ft. warehouse in SOMA was opened up to the public… · More for one month. Anyone could host any type of event and anyone could attend all for free. We hosted 96 events in 30 days. Five [fs] locations have opened in cities around the world. [fs] has been used as model for innovative community building projects in university classes and featured in the national press dozens of times. Honors include: White House Department of Science and Technology consultant to federal government department administrators on the development of open data applications. Grants from Levi’s Strauss and the City of San Francisco for innovative community building initiatives.
